About The Position

Kennedy Jenks is excited to be adding a Senior Electrical Engineer role in any of our California office locations. This position offers a unique opportunity to join our growing team and help shape the design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pump stations, buildings, and related systems. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll work with multi-discipline teams to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions for clients in the water, wastewater, and industrial sectors. This is a chance to take on technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to projects that make a real difference in communities nationwide.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, in buildings and preferably in water, wastewater, or industrial waste treatment facilities.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of CA required and ability to obtain reciprocity in other states.
  • Experience designing and sealing medium to large electrical projects and familiarity with the full project lifecycle: planning, design (30%–100%), bidding, construction, commissioning, and testing.
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and client meetings.
  • Advanced knowledge of stand-by generators and associated switchgear.
  • Technical expertise in MCCs, switchboards, panelboards, load calculations, diesel generators, medium- and low-voltage power systems, transformers, MV/LV switchgear, and SKM software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering design for water, wastewater, and industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Perform power system design and studies, including load flow, short circuit, protective relay coordination, and arc-flash hazard analysis.
  • Contribute to conceptual reports, construction plans, and CSI specifications.
  • Develop detailed design documentation using REVIT, CAD, and/or BIM.
  • Coordinate P&IDs and associated logic diagrams with electrical schematics for process equipment.
  • Perform calculations for voltage drop, electrical load studies, system power flow, generator sizing, fault studies, and protective device coordination.
  • Design lighting, fire alarm, and other electrical systems.
  • Review contractor submittments and provide engineered solutions to Requests for Information.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
