About The Position

The Senior Electrical Engineer will play a crucial role in promoting a zero-incident safety culture, managing projects from scope development to commissioning, and providing high-level technical support for plant production equipment. This role involves supervising technical staff, utilizing design software, and ensuring the safe and efficient installation and integration of new machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial automation systems and a proven track record in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Proven proficiency with industrial automation systems, specifically: Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Safety Processors and controls.
  • Proficiency with Beckhoff PLC’s and Industrial Controls.
  • Proficiency with Siemens PCS-7.
  • Proficiency with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Proficiency with HMI Platforms – i.e. FactoryTalk | WinCC.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (Electrical/Mechanical) or Inventor.
  • Deep understanding of civil, mechanical, and electrical integration requirements for heavy machinery.
  • Strong supervisory skills with the ability to coordinate with engineers, IT professionals, and union or non-union skilled trades.

  • Glass manufacturing or continuous processing industry experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a proactive, zero-incident safety culture across all engineering and maintenance activities.
  • Partner with the Safety Department to review, revise, and develop robust safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Safe Cell Entry.
  • Review and approve "controlled" technical documentation on an annual basis to ensure compliance.
  • Actively assist and support OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) initiatives and audits.
  • Write comprehensive Scope of Work (SOW) documents covering mechanical, electrical, and civil requirements clear enough for external vendor bidding.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, timelines, costing spreadsheets, and equipment layouts.
  • Oversee external contractors and resources during general maintenance, equipment modifications, and major capital projects.
  • Utilize Autodesk products (AutoCAD Mechanical/Electrical or Inventor) to read, modify, and develop engineering drawings.
  • Lead the rigging, civil placement, mechanical/millwright setting, electrical powering, and system integration of new machinery.
  • Direct full startup and commissioning phases to transition equipment smoothly to production.
  • Advise, mentor, and supervise multidisciplinary teams, including IT staff, various engineering disciplines, and skilled trades (mechanical and electrical).
  • Provide high-level technical troubleshooting and engineering support for plant production equipment and industrial controls.
