Senior Electrical Engineer (Systems)

Critical Loop
•$180,000 - $215,000

About The Position

Critical Loop builds grid-scale power products and is seeking an engineer to own a product’s electrical design from conception through first prototype and production release. The role owns system-level electrical design, including single-line diagrams, component selection, bills of materials, protection ratings, and grounding, as well as the design process and product handover to Production. The engineer will author and maintain product requirements, design reviews, engineering change orders, electrical BOMs, and single-line drawings under revision control. They will perform power system studies and work closely with mechanical, thermal, and controls leads to ensure designs meet multidisciplinary constraints. The role also makes build-versus-buy and cost-reduction decisions while maintaining compliance with the NEC and applicable UL standards. Critical Loop offers equity ownership through stock options, medical, dental, and vision coverage through an HRA with a generous allowance, a retirement savings plan, and unlimited paid time off. Critical Loop does not provide visa sponsorship; applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future immigration support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of electrical design experience on power systems.
  • Experience specifying or building switchgear, custom power panels, or other high-power electrical assemblies.
  • Ability to apply the NEC and other relevant standards to real designs.
  • Ability to independently run load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies using ETAP or SKM.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard electrical CAD.
  • Experience making build-versus-buy and cost-down decisions and owning the outcomes.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future immigration support; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with battery energy storage, microgrids, or other distributed energy resources.
  • Experience owning documentation and processes after the design phase, including ECO systems, revision control, or PLM.
  • Familiarity with UL 508A, UL 9540, or UL 3141.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Utility interconnection and AHJ experience.

  • Release and maintain electrical bills of materials and single-line drawings under revision control.
  • Perform load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash power system studies.
  • Work directly with mechanical, thermal, and controls leads to ensure electrical designs meet their constraints.
  • Make build-versus-buy decisions and reduce electrical BOM costs without losing compliance margin.
  • Keep designs compliant with the NEC and applicable UL standards.

Benefits
