Senior Electrical Engineer - OGC
About The Position
This role is for a Senior Electrical Engineer with the EPC client in Houston, TX, offering flexibility for remote work. The position is for an initial duration of 6+ months with the potential for extension. The engineer will be responsible for reviewing the work of other engineers and designers, ensuring that engineering and design documents meet project needs. This role requires strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a high level of data analysis proficiency. The engineer will regularly review vendor documents to confirm adherence to specifications and data sheet requirements. This position also involves leading mid to large-size projects or proposals, developing and mentoring junior engineers in design improvements and cost reduction, and applying technologies to enhance processes and business outcomes. Adherence to industry and company standards, including the NEC, is crucial for effective design and engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering minimum required.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- 10-20 year minimum relevant experience in refining and petrochemical industry.
- Clearly conveys messages and ideas, gains understanding.
- Knowledge of industry codes, guidelines and regulatory standards to include NEC, NFPA and API.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with ETAP Electrical Power System Analysis software desired.
- Knowledgeable in power system studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and relay coordination preferred.
Responsibilities
- Reviews the work of engineers and designers developing engineering and design documents as needed for the project.
- Regularly performs reviews of vendor documents to ensure specifications and data sheet requirements are met.
- Leads mid to large-size project or proposals.
- Develops and leads others in ways of improving the design and lowering cost.
- Applies techniques/technologies to improve processes and business results.
- Utilizes industry and company standards to design and engineer effectively.
- Reviews application of standards for correct interpretations (including NEC).
- Provides guidance, leadership and training to less experienced engineers.
- Leads small team to complete task/design on project.
- Develops and presents work in well-constructed written and verbal presentations.
- Serves as technical resource and point of contact for external or internal customers.
