About The Position

Odin Dynamics is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to own electrical and electronics hardware for a rugged energy-storage and microgrid product integrating lithium-ion and other advanced battery technologies. This role spans system electrical architecture, PCBA design, power conversion, power conditioning, battery-management hardware, protection, sensing, diagnostics, filtering, EMI/EMC mitigation, and embedded-control hardware. You will design and bring up the hardware that enables the product to store, convert, condition, monitor, and deliver reliable electrical power in demanding environments. You will work across battery-system electrical architecture, battery-management electronics, high-efficiency power conversion, power distribution, microcontroller support circuitry, and the PCBAs that tie the system together. The role requires strong power-electronics fundamentals, practical PCB design experience, and enough digital and embedded-hardware fluency to implement reliable microcontroller-based control electronics. This role requires close collaboration with embedded software engineers during requirements definition, hardware/software interface definition, board bring-up, debugging, fault investigation, controls integration, and system validation. There are no organizational handoffs when a difficult problem crosses the boundary between electrical, software, mechanical, manufacturing, supply chain, or test engineering. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role. You will be expected to design real hardware, make technical decisions, mentor other engineers, and remain accountable for the performance, reliability, and manufacturability of the electrical systems you own.

Requirements

• Deep practical expertise in power electronics, energy-storage hardware, battery systems, battery-management electronics, switching converters, power distribution, or closely related electrical systems.
• Strong schematic design, PCB layout, board bring-up, and debugging experience.
• Experience designing switching power supplies, power-conversion hardware, power-distribution electronics, sensing circuits, protection circuits, or control-interface hardware.
• Strong switching power-converter fundamentals; familiarity with advanced wide-bandgap power devices is preferred.
• Experience with battery-system electronics, including battery-management hardware, cell monitoring, balancing, protection, diagnostics, and communication interfaces.
• Experience designing microcontroller-based hardware and the supporting circuitry needed for reliable embedded control.
• Sufficient digital electronics experience to implement embedded-control hardware and collaborate across digital, firmware, and power-electronics interfaces.
• Familiarity with digital control of power converters or similar power-electronics systems.
• Experience with multilayer boards, mixed-signal design, high-current layout, grounding, filtering, switching noise, power integrity, thermal behavior, and ruggedized electronics.
• Ability to read datasheets deeply, select components, define interfaces, and make first-principles engineering tradeoffs.
• Experience debugging integrated hardware/software systems using lab equipment and structured root-cause analysis.
• Experience designing for noise, thermal behavior, manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, and environmental robustness.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while collaborating closely across engineering disciplines.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
• Approximately five or more years of relevant electrical engineering experience is preferred, but demonstrated technical depth, multidisciplinary problem-solving ability, and a record of delivering difficult hardware systems matter more than a specific number of years.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical architecture and PCBA design for a rugged energy-storage and microgrid product.
• Serve as the Responsible Engineer for electrical hardware from early requirements through tested, production-ready implementation.
• Design and bring up hardware for battery systems, battery-management electronics, power conversion, power distribution, protection, sensing, diagnostics, and control interfaces.
• Develop high-efficiency switching power electronics using modern power devices, including advanced wide-bandgap devices where appropriate.
• Design microcontroller-based control hardware, including supporting power, clocking, reset, sensing, communications, isolation, and interface circuitry.
• Design electrical filters, grounding approaches, shielding strategies, and EMI/EMC mitigation features for high-power switching systems.
• Define hardware/software interfaces and work closely with embedded software engineers during bring-up, integration, debugging, and fault investigation.
• Design and review multilayer PCBs involving mixed-signal circuitry, high-current paths, switching power electronics, power integrity, thermal constraints, and reliable digital interfaces.
• Debug board-level and system-level issues involving power rails, switching behavior, sensing accuracy, noise, EMI, communication links, thermal behavior, intermittent faults, and hardware/software interactions.
• Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, electronic loads, power supplies, thermal cameras, and battery test equipment to identify root causes.
• Develop and execute board-level, subsystem-level, and full-system validation tests, including thermal, EMI/EMC, fault, abuse-case, and field testing where appropriate.
• Work directly with manufacturing, supply chain, PCB fabricators, assembly vendors, component suppliers, and internal engineering teams to support prototype builds and production transition.
• Support production testing, investigate failures, and own corrective improvements throughout the product lifecycle.
• Produce concise engineering documentation that enables implementation, testing, operation, manufacturing, troubleshooting, and future development.
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical reviews without moving away from hands-on engineering.
