About The Position

We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Merrick provides personalized services to various clients throughout the world. A hybrid schedule will be supported. This engineer will be responsible for all phases of engineering production and BIM for a variety of work ranging from programming through construction administration. This includes interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating the design and production effort for one or more large or complex projects. Additionally, this position will: Design electrical systems for facilities for Sandia National Lab, Government, and private clients. Provide conceptual / detailed design for facility power distribution (<=600V), site power distribution (<=15kV), emergency power generation, grounding and lightning protection, lighting design, telecommunications (voice/data), fire alarm / mass notification, security, access control, and special systems. Provide supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications. Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work. Prepare fee proposals for engineering design work. Work with other engineering disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments and meet expectations for attendance and punctuality. Write and edit specifications Work in a design team environment, including directing and mentoring the work of junior engineers and designers, and delegating work as required as well as provide management of the local team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or architectural engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Twelve (12) years of experience in facility electrical engineering design
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required
  • Proficient in using REVIT/AutoCAD.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical regulatory codes such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEE.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using electrical calculation tools is desired, including lighting software such as AGi32, Elum Tools, and power software such as SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Experience with Sandia National Lab, Department of Defense clients.
