About The Position

Anduril is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Air Dominance and Strike team in Costa Mesa, California. The role focuses on full-lifecycle PCB design, from requirements gathering and schematic capture through component selection, layout, board bring-up, test, debug, and system integration. The engineer will also support subsystem cable harnessing, hardware integration, environmental qualification, and flight-test operations, contributing to new developments, active deployments, and mission-critical flight hardware. The position works across electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and test disciplines to develop payloads and subsystems, including sensors, payload interfaces, power management, and networking. Candidates should be hands-on electrical generalists with experience in complex, high-reliability hardware and the ability to troubleshoot across electrical and software boundaries. The role requires eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. security clearance. The listed U.S. base salary range is $161,000–$212,000. The posting notes that actual offers may vary based on factors such as experience, education, training, skills, and business considerations. Competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers. Anduril also describes a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, available at little to no cost to employees, but does not enumerate specific benefits in this posting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex system designs.
  • Hands-on PCB design experience within the last 5 years, including schematic capture, layout execution or supervision, and physical board bring-up in a laboratory.
  • Experience with modern ECAD/EDA design tools; Altium Designer is preferred, with Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, or similar tools also considered.
  • Solid foundation in power-system design, power-loading analysis, and power-management systems, including DC-DC conversion, transient protection, and power distribution.
  • High competence using laboratory test equipment, including benchtop power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, DMMs, and logic or spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience with basic board-level rework and soldering tools.
  • Hands-on experience with microcontrollers and digital interfaces, including CAN, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, RS232/422, RS485, and USB.
  • Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics, mixed-signal board design, grounding topologies, and filtering or EMI mitigation.
  • Understanding of low- and high-voltage power electronics and control systems sufficient to inform cable-harness designs and connector selections.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. security clearance.
  • Strong organization and written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized background in discrete power-supply design, including high-efficiency topologies, switching regulators, or battery-management systems.
  • Background in defense, missile systems, hypersonics, or aerospace avionics.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the effects of temperature, shock, and vibration on electrical packaging and designs.
  • Ability to develop basic low-level firmware or test scripts in C or Python for hardware bring-up and peripheral validation.
  • Experience in fast-paced, high-reliability adjacent industries such as electric vehicles/automotive, medical devices, autonomous systems, or complex consumer electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle PCB design, including requirements collection, schematic design, component selection, layout supervision or execution, board bring-up, testing, debugging, and system integration.
  • Conduct bring-up and design work on microcontrollers and microprocessors and integrate them into systems.
  • Develop, simulate, and integrate discrete power supplies, DC-DC converters, and power-management systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues spanning electrical and software boundaries using laboratory equipment and basic software or firmware debugging tools.
  • Support new development, deployments, and customer-operated flight hardware in a fast-paced environment.
  • Develop payloads and subsystems, including sensors, payload interfaces, power management, and networking.
  • Create system interconnect diagrams and define wire harnesses and pinouts connecting electronic equipment within a subsystem.
  • Support environmental qualification, including vibration and thermal testing, and flight-test operations.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and test engineers to deliver functional products.
  • Conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews.

Benefits

  • Competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Comprehensive, competitive benefits package for full-time employees, described as available at little to no cost to employees; specific benefits are not listed in the posting.
