Senior Electrical Engineer
About The Position
The Senior Electrical Engineer will perform task and project level assignments including design/development, analysis, and manufacturing support of power supplies and power conversion equipment. This role involves producing new and upgrading existing electrical designs to meet customer specifications and Rantec standards, supporting bid and proposal activities, and generating test procedures for design validation and product acceptance. The engineer will also support manufacturing by ensuring designs conform to IPC standards and Design for Manufacturability guidelines, and by reviewing manufacturing issues for design improvements. Additionally, the position requires developing product performance and compliance testing, creating plans and schedules for product design and development programs, managing program budgets, and participating in design reviews and other engineering and manufacturing work groups. The role also requires the ability to work flexible hours and/or different shifts as needed, adhere to regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, State and Federal), and maintain punctuality and consistent attendance. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering
- 7 years analog design experience preferred, preferably in switching power supplies
- Able to use electronic test equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose failed units and components
- Sound reasoning skills in risk assessment and failure analysis
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of root cause analysis techniques and effective corrective action
- Thorough knowledge of technical matters including Electrical and mechanical requirements (MIL-STDs, J-STD 001, IPC-A-610)
- Thorough knowledge of Power switching techniques
- Thorough knowledge of Control systems
- Thorough knowledge of Thermal analysis
- Thorough knowledge of Component modeling
- Thorough knowledge of Packaging and altitude considerations
- Thorough knowledge of Network simulation
- Thorough knowledge of Reliability topics related to power conversion
- Thorough knowledge of Environmental effects on electronic systems
- Thorough knowledge of Magnetics design
- Thorough knowledge of EMI emissions
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, Lawful Permanent Resident of the U.S., or properly licensed foreign person due to ITAR regulations.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain necessary export authorization licenses.

Responsibilities
- Produce new electrical designs for power supplies and power conversion equipment to conform to customer specifications and Rantec standards.
- Provide product improvement through the analysis of existing products and the incorporation of design improvements.
- Incorporate product changes originating from changes in customer specifications, components, manufacturing requirements, or to address obsolescence.
- Support bid and proposal activities.
- Determine the testing protocol for design and prototype validation as well as final product acceptance testing.
- Produce designs that conform to IPC standards and Design for Manufacturability guidelines.
- Review manufacturing issues for input to design changes.
- Develop product performance and compliance testing.
- Develop plans and schedules for product design and development programs.
- Develop and maintain program budgets.
- Participate in design reviews, scheduling meetings and other engineering and manufacturing work groups to provide design input as needed.
- Work flexible hours and/or different shifts, as required.
- Work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations.
- Arrive to work on-time, and work each day, as scheduled.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
