We are currently looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer, Substations to join our dynamic Energy and Resources team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for substation and renewable energy projects across Canada. From wind and solar to battery energy storage systems, your expertise will help shape the future of clean energy. As a key contributor, you’ll collaborate with a dedicated team of professionals, benefit from mentorship and development opportunities, and occasionally work on-site with clients to apply your skills in real-world environments.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on substation and renewable energy systems.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). United States Professional Engineering designation would be considered an asset.
  • Proven experience in collector network and substation design.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated ability to write well-structured, clear, and concise technical reports.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving, process improvement, and client satisfaction.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main technical lead and client-facing representative, quarterbacking project delivery and facilitating key internal and external stakeholder discussions.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams for full substation project delivery, including civil, structural, protection & control, SCADA, and telecommunications.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team culture.
  • Design electrical systems and create technical specifications for substation and balance of plant equipment
  • Prepare detailed plans and specifications for HV/MV substation projects
  • Provide engineering expertise for electrical installations in Utility substations, as well as wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects.
  • Write and review technical reports, engineering assessments, and design documentation.
  • Ensure design compliance with industry standards, codes, and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver optimized and high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Occasionally travel to project sites for inspections, assessments, and client interactions.
