About The Position

Crusoe is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Power Systems organization. This role is a high-level technical position responsible for the design, construction, commissioning, and long-term operational success of our power plant facilities across the USA. You will serve as the primary subject matter expert for power generation assets, bridging the gap between front-end design and field execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and a minimum of 6+ years in industrial electrical engineering.
  • Expert working knowledge of NEC application to industrial installations.
  • Ability to work effectively with both engineers and operations personnel.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% to project sites.
  • Comprehensive understanding of generator physics and operations.
  • Proficiency in Protection & Control coordination studies and fault analysis.
  • Knowledge of the IEC 61850 standard.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Simple and Combined Cycle Turbine Generators (10 MW – 600 MW) and Reciprocating Engines (3 MW – 20 MW).
  • Experience in implementation and management of Microgrid Controllers.
  • Knowledge of best practices for the synchronization of islanded electrical systems.
  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop testing and Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) studies.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Texas or Colorado.
  • Experience with power modeling software (e.g., ETAP or SKM).
  • Previous experience managing utility-scale interconnects.
  • Power Generation or Oil & Gas industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead front-end engineering for capital projects, including the layout and sizing of power systems.
  • Review one-lines, wiring diagrams, schematics, electrical studies, and control narratives to ensure they meet company design specifications.
  • Review vendor drawings, check wiring diagrams against schematics, and ensure all design deliverables from consultants meet project specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance during the construction and commissioning of power plant assets.
  • Support and provide input to field teams and third-party consultants on complex electrical issues.
  • Partner with Field Operations to troubleshoot electrical failures, perform root-cause analysis, and optimize existing power infrastructure for maximum uptime.
  • Apply deep technical expertise across power generation assets, including generator physics and operations.
  • Specify and integrate high and medium voltage equipment such as 34.5 kV GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) indoor units, GSU (Generator Step-Up) Transformers, and MV/LV Switchgear and MCCs (Motor Control Centers).
  • Utilize working knowledge of Governor and AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) controls.
  • Implement the IEC 61850 standard, including GOOSE & MMS protocols.
  • Conduct Protection & Control coordination studies and fault analysis.
