About The Position

ECI is seeking highly motivated electrical engineers with significant experience in performing EHV technical design studies. The role involves utilizing software to perform analysis and write detailed reports. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge and experience in various EHV studies, including Shunt Reactive Compensation and Voltage Control, Coupled Line Resonance Studies, Single Pole Automatic Reclosing, Series Capacitor Analysis, Line Switching Overvoltage Studies, Line Insulation Coordination Studies, Breaker TRV/RRRV Studies, Line or Sub MAD calculations, Coupling to Adjacent Circuits in ROW, Voltage/Current Unbalance/Transposition Studies, Transformer Energization, TOV studies in HV/EHV systems, EHV Capacitor Switching, Technoeconomic Conductor Selection Studies, and EHV Power Cable Studies. The engineer will join a team of experienced professionals, perform detailed EMT analysis, and provide guidance and training to junior staff. Extensive experience with PSCAD is required, along with knowledge of common load flow tools, MathCad, and Excel. The team supports customers with project conceptual development, design support, equipment selection, and post-operation assistance, including apparatus ratings and specifications for various power system components.

Requirements

  • MSEE degree (PhD desirable).
  • 15+ years performing most of the listed EHV studies.
  • Expert user of PSCAD.
  • Expert user of positive sequence/phasor domain tools.
  • Knowledge of common load flow tools, MathCad, and Excel is a must.
  • Occasional travel/driving is required.
  • Applicants must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ATP and EMTP-RV.
  • Professional engineers license is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform EHV technical design studies using various software.
  • Write detailed reports for analysis performed.
  • Conduct Shunt Reactive Compensation and Voltage Control studies.
  • Perform Coupled Line Resonance Studies.
  • Conduct Single Pole Automatic Reclosing studies (NGR sizing, reclose dead time determination, stability margins).
  • Perform Series Capacitor Analysis (develop cap size, MOV sizing).
  • Conduct Line Switching Overvoltage Studies.
  • Perform Line Insulation Coordination Studies (assess line clearances, recommend PIRs, sub/line arresters, clearance changes).
  • Conduct Breaker TRV/RRRV Studies.
  • Perform Line or Sub MAD calculations.
  • Analyze Coupling to Adjacent Circuits in ROW.
  • Conduct Voltage/Current Unbalance/Transposition Studies.
  • Perform Transformer Energization studies.
  • Conduct TOV studies in HV/EHV systems.
  • Perform EHV Capacitor Switching analysis and TLI/PIR sizing.
  • Conduct Technoeconomic Conductor Selection Studies.
  • Perform EHV Power Cable Studies (EMT studies of riser design including grounding, cross-bonding, SVL sizing/placement, protection of cables).
  • Provide guidance and training to younger staff.
  • Assist customers with project conceptual development.
  • Provide support during design phases.
  • Assist with equipment selection.
  • Provide assistance with operating issues after COD.
  • Assist with apparatus ratings and specifications development for transformers, circuit breakers, switches, cables, series capacitors, dynamic var devices, etc.
