We are currently seeking a proven Electrical Engineering Discipline Leader to join our Alexandria, Virginia office. Electrical Engineering services will consist of power, lighting, and fire alarm engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily leadership of the electrical staff.
  • Periodically review the overall mix and quantity of the staff based on office workload projections.
  • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, workload sharing with other offices, and terminations to adjust the engineering staff composition to meet overall business objectives.
  • Mentor the department staff individually or in collaboration with other senior staff.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of electrical staff and make recommendations for compensation changes.
  • Assist in the development of proposals, design budgets and project schedule.
  • Facilitate the delivery of a full range of engineering services including facility assessments, life cycle analyses, sustainable design and energy analyses, conceptual designs, design development engineering, contract documents, construction administration, post-occupancy evaluations.
  • Promote innovative and creative design solutions within a collaborative team environment, working and communicating closely with the Owners, Architects, PIC, PM, consultants and team members.
  • Make project engineering staff assignments that are responsive to the technical, financial, and schedule requirements of the projects.
  • Assist project teams in the development of project workplans and project control drawings at each project phase.
  • Coordinate staffing requirements between all projects within the office.
  • Assist the various PMs in providing accurate project staffing requirements.
  • Conduct periodic design reviews, per the established project schedule, to determine if the project engineering objectives and client requirements are satisfied.
  • Responsible for the quality of design and documentation for the discipline.
  • Coordinate with the QA/QC leader the assignment of QA engineer for each project.
  • Maintain an updated library of discipline standards.
  • Collaborate with the CA group to establish lessons learned reviews on projects.
  • Understand the strategic business objectives of the Alexandria office and the company. Participate, when requested, in the development and planning of those objectives.
  • Assist in the development of electrical engineering design and project delivery strategies and establish responsibilities, procedures, and financial budgets for attaining the business objectives.
  • Identify, develop, and implement opportunities for improving engineering design and project delivery policies and procedures.
  • Participate in local, regional, or national professional organizations to understand general design/construction industry trends, promote the company’s image, identify “best” business practices for potential use within the company, identify and develop relationships with prospective employees.
  • Participate in sales activities and project interviews.
