About The Position

A nationally recognized building-systems engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer/Engineer to join its Washington, DC team. The organization delivers sophisticated, high-performance engineering solutions for complex facilities across healthcare, education, life sciences, commercial, transportation, and other sectors. This is an opportunity for an accomplished electrical engineering professional to lead challenging MEP assignments, guide developing team members, collaborate directly with clients, and help shape reliable, efficient building systems from concept through construction. The Senior Electrical Designer/Engineer will serve as a discipline leader across multiple building projects. This person will combine advanced electrical design expertise with project management, client consultation, staff mentorship, interdisciplinary coordination, and a strong commitment to technical quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Active Professional Engineer license.
  • At least 10 years of experience in MEP electrical design and consulting.
  • Project management experience within the MEP industry.
  • Strong client-service, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of applicable building codes and electrical design systems.

Nice To Haves

  • LEED accreditation.
  • Experience using Autodesk Revit.
  • A collaborative leadership style and genuine interest in mentoring developing professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex MEP design projects across commercial, healthcare, education, life sciences, transportation, and other markets.
  • Lead the design and coordination of innovative electrical systems for complex buildings.
  • Meet with clients to understand project goals, communicate technical recommendations, and maintain trusted relationships.
  • Prepare and review design documentation, calculations, specifications, and construction drawings.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior design staff.
  • Support project planning, coordination, quality control, schedules, and budgets in partnership with MEP team leaders.
  • Deliver responsive, professional service to clients and internal project teams.
