About The Position

Our client is building a Low Earth Orbit Navigation System, a foundational infrastructure system designed to deliver GPS-independent time transfer and orbit tracking. They are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to own the architecture, schematic design, and bring-up of their core satellite payload electronics. This role involves exciting projects such as designing the LEONS Infrastructure, developing hardware for GPS-independent time transfer and orbit tracking, and mastering precision timing chains by architecting ultra-low-noise, high-speed board designs integrating advanced atomic clocks for nanosecond-level timing stability. The position operates at startup velocity, with hardware progressing from schematic to flight payload in Low Earth Orbit on an aggressive timeline. The company is assembling an elite team to tackle complex mixed-signal and RF-adjacent challenges in the NewSpace industry.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience designing complex mixed-signal and RF-adjacent circuit boards (clock/timing distribution, low-noise power, high-speed digital, analog/RF interfaces) for space, aerospace, or other high-reliability hardware.
  • Strong attention to signal and power integrity.
  • Demonstrated ownership of primary or complex PCBs from schematic and detailed design through fabrication, bring-up, and functional test.
  • Ability to walk through prior designs and design decisions in a hands-on interview task.
  • Experience owning integrated performance of a multi-board electronic system.
  • Primarily an electrical engineer with a working understanding of FPGA/firmware and software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-directed and comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Person.

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with GNSS, precision timing, or oscillator and clock-distribution hardware.
  • Familiarity with SoC/FPGA-based payloads (e.g., Zynq) and their board-level support.
  • Hands-on PCB layout experience, including defining layout constraints, reviewing routing, and working with external partners.
  • Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading a hardware team.
  • Experience supporting multiple hardware generations in parallel while maintaining design and configuration discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture, schematic design, and bring-up of core satellite payload electronics.
  • Develop hardware for the Low Earth Orbit Navigation System (LEONS), enabling GPS-independent time transfer and orbit tracking.
  • Architect ultra-low-noise, high-speed board designs integrating advanced atomic clocks (OCXOs/TCXOs) for precise timing stability.
  • Design and bring-up hardware from schematic to functional flight payload operating in Low Earth Orbit.
  • Contribute to solving hard mixed-signal and RF-adjacent challenges.
  • Design for manufacturability and test at production volumes.
  • Provide technical leadership for the payload hardware team, including oversight of a junior engineer.
