About The Position

Leland Saylor Associates is a leading national project and cost control firm seeking a Senior Electrical Cost Estimator. As the Chief Electrical Estimator, you will be the expert behind the numbers, leading the electrical estimating team and ensuring accuracy in the estimating process. Your work will set the foundation for accuracy and build trust with clients. You will lead by example and contribute to the company's strong reputation for delivering accurate cost estimates to the construction industry. Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in electrical estimating, with at least several years in a management role.
  • Excellent take-off and pricing skills.
  • Experience with government, commercial, industrial, and mission-critical projects.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (Accubid, Trimble, Bluebeam, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, and specifications.
  • A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 7-10 years working with electrical systems in civic, commercial, or mission-critical construction.
  • Deep knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70/70E.
  • Ability to interpret one-lines, riser diagrams, panel schedules, and coordination studies.
  • Proficiency with QA tools (Procore, BIM 360, Smartsheet, CMMS).
  • Strong communication skills to lead issue resolution with contractors, engineers, and clients.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications: P.E., LEED, ASPE, or AACEI.
  • Experience working on data centers, hospitals, or advanced manufacturing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full estimating process for complex electrical projects from pre-concept through final proposal.
  • Evaluate drawings, specifications, and scope to build complete, accurate cost estimates.
  • Partner with PM's, engineers, and preconstruction teams to align estimates with project goals.
  • Mentor and coach estimators, helping them grow technical expertise and confidence.
  • Build strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, ensuring we get the best pricing and insights to share with our clients.
  • Work on electrical projects ranging from $5 million to $500 million.
  • Provide training to junior estimators for the electrical systems.
  • Determine whether a given project moves forward in the construction process.
  • Advise clients on how to build cost-effective projects, including value analysis.
  • Manage and negotiate with industry players like Rosendin, Cupertino, Berg, Helix, Sasco, MYR, Quanta and Primoris.
