About The Position

DISHER is partnering with a provider of custom HVAC and environmental control solutions in Covington, Georgia, serving mission-critical industries including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, data centers, and advanced manufacturing. The Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer will contribute to the design and development of custom dehumidifiers and other engineered systems. The role calls for an experienced professional who can independently own projects and deliver electrical design and troubleshooting expertise, with training provided on the company’s system principles. The engineer will create electrical schematics and ladder logic, design and program PLC-based controls, select system components, and support research and development and new product development. The position also involves producing procedures and production standards, identifying continuous-improvement needs, supporting field service teams and customers, and traveling to customer sites when needed.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
At least 5 years of experience in an electrical engineering role.
At least 5 years of experience designing PLC programs.
Advanced-level expertise in electrical drawing creation.
Proficiency in AutoCAD.
Working knowledge of HVAC or refrigeration systems.
Good technical writing skills.
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and take ownership of assigned projects.
Self-motivated, engaged, team-oriented, and strategic approach to work.
Passion for quality work and strong attention to detail.
Ability to think critically, innovate, and solve challenging technical problems.

Nice To Haves

Current Professional Engineer (PE) license for the State of Georgia.
At least 5 years of experience designing in the HVAC or refrigeration industry.
At least 5 years of experience using AutoCAD.
At least 5 years of PLC design experience.
SolidWorks Electrical experience.
Fluency in Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Automation Direct PLC systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
LEAN, 6S, and solid problem-solving experience.

Responsibilities

Design electrical schematics for custom dehumidifiers.
Create ladder logic designs in CAD and PLC designs using Carel software.
Apply NEC and UL requirements to electrical designs.
Design electrical systems and select components such as motors, circuit breakers, contactors, relays, VFDs, and controllers.
Present selected system components in Excel to the Purchasing Department for procurement.
Lead research and development (R&D) and new product development (NPD) projects.
Program PLCs, including Carel and Automation Direct products.
Write procedures and production standards.
Capture continuous-improvement needs and create action plans.
Assist field service teams and customers with technical questions and engineering support.
Travel to customer sites when needed.
