Met Weld's manufacturing facility and Quality Assurance Programs deliver a controlled approach to each project and ensure the highest level of quality and service for our customers. We are located in Altamont, NY, and are looking to hire a full-time Senior Electrical Assembler to join our team. The Senior Electrical Assembler is responsible for laying out, building, wiring, and testing intricate electrical control systems and electro-mechanical sub-assemblies. This role relies heavily on interpreting complex electrical blueprints, layout drawings, and schematics to ensure compliance with quality and safety regulations. As a senior team member, you will perform precision assembly, diagnose system issues, and assist in leading the production floor.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 to 6 years of electrical assembly experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced skill with hand, power, crimping, and soldering equipment.
  • High proficiency using multimeters, calipers, micrometers, and continuity testers.
  • Solid working knowledge of electrical codes (e.g., National Electrical Code / NEC) and safety standards.
  • Exceptional manual dexterity, strong hand-eye coordination, and the ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Proven ability to complete highly detailed tasks efficiently with minimal direct supervision.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school certificate or an Associate degree in Electrical Technology or Electronics is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience interfacing with a quality management system (ISO9001, NQA-1, AS9100) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and wire industrial control panels, and electro-mechanical sub-assemblies.
  • Read and translate complex electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and layout schematics.
  • Route, strip, crimp, and solder (if necessary) wires to connect components like PLCs, relays, and switches.
  • Drill, tap, and mount hardware including circuit breakers, transformers, and power supplies.
  • Conduct continuity, voltage, and insulation testing using multimeters and diagnostic tools.
  • Diagnose complex electrical malfunctions during the manufacturing phase and apply corrective actions.
  • Inspect finished assemblies against engineering standards to guarantee compliance with relevant safety codes.
  • Provide technical guidance, review work, and train junior and apprentice electrical assemblers.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives to maximize workflow efficiency.
  • Use proper safety gear and inspect work areas to identify and correct any possible safety hazards.
