About The Position

The Senior EHS Specialist will serve as a key partner in driving the implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of corporate EHS programs, policies, and initiatives across designated facilities. Acting as a coach, mentor, and change agent, this role will work collaboratively with facility teams to strengthen safety culture, ensure compliance, and reduce risks, supporting the company’s Mission Zero objectives. Requirements

  • Bachelors or Master’s in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Must be knowledgeable with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • At least 5 years of experience in environmental, health & safety or related field within a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Specific experience as an EHS trainer, coach, and mentor.
  • Experience in building a proactive EHS culture and create an environment where all employees are engaged in working safely with environmental consciousness.
  • Experience in developing EHS management systems that follows ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 guidelines.
  • Experience to effectively interpret regulations & guidelines to create cost-effective, visual, & simple tools and solutions.
  • Ability to lead inter-departmental and cross-functional EHS initiatives that are not direct reports.
  • Ability to gain buy-in for EHS initiatives from all levels of management, co-workers and production floor employees.
  • Intermediate presentation & facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently & effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong team building & collaborative skills.
  • Must be adaptable and flexible.
  • Works well under pressure with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to make difficult decisions with limited data.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of corporate EHS programs, policies, procedures, and best practices to minimize risk and enhance safety performance.
  • Partner with facility EHS leaders and operations teams, both individually and in groups, to develop and align internal programs with corporate standards.
  • Develop standardized training programs and serve as a certified trainer to empower facility teams with knowledge and skills.
  • Drive continuous improvement of systems to promote compliance, education, and a culture of safety excellence.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to leadership and the EHS Steering Team, fostering motivation and commitment to achieving company-wide safety initiatives.
  • Act as a change agent to advance process improvements and foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 guidelines.
  • Assist facilities in implementing and maintaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.
  • Pursue continued education and certifications to remain a knowledgeable and credible EHS resource.
  • Provide day-to-day EHS support to designated facilities, partnering with site EHS leaders and operations teams.
  • Lead safety improvement teams and mentor staff on continuous improvement projects.
  • Oversee industrial hygiene programs, including data analysis, corrective actions, and sampling plans.
  • Deliver presentations to internal teams on metrics, project progress, and research findings.
  • Direct the implementation of company safety programs and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, recommend corrective actions, and track progress to closure.
  • Conduct EHS audits, manage corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution of site safety concerns.
  • Oversee the control and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in compliance with regulations.
  • Provide EHS support across all shifts, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness.
  • Dedicate 5% travel to provide hands-on support to facilities and attend EHS Team Annual Conferences.
