About The Position

Shape a safer, more sustainable future for patients and employees across Medtronic’s global operations. In this role, you’ll lead Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) strategy and execution across Medtronic’s East Region within Global Operations & Supply Chain. Your work will directly protect employees, communities, and the environment while enabling safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing, supply chain, R&D, and office operations that support life saving medical technologies. You’ll serve as a senior EHS leader and subject matter expert, influencing decisions from site level operations through regional and enterprise strategy. Partnering closely with site leaders, operations teams, and EHS professionals, you’ll drive consistent application of EHS programs, strengthen regulatory compliance, and advance a proactive, high performance safety culture. You’ll also play a key role on the Americas and GOSC EHS Leadership Teams, helping shape enterprise initiatives, standardize best practices, and improve EHS performance across multiple sites and business functions. This role is based at a Medtronic site in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or New Jersey, and includes a combination of onsite work and regional travel to support multiple locations. Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive EHS experience OR advanced degree and 5+ years of experience, including multi‑site or regional responsibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and environmental and occupational health regulations
  • Proven experience leading audits, investigations, and regulatory interactions
  • Ability to travel approximately 30–50% within the East Region
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in science, engineering, or occupational health
  • CSP, CIH, or other relevant professional certification
  • Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or R&D environments
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
  • Experience with EHS data management systems and structured problem‑solving (A3, Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Strong change leadership, communication, and people leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and execution of EHS programs, management systems, and training to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements across manufacturing, R&D, supply chain, and office environments.
  • Serve as a visible regional EHS leader and trusted advisor, providing risk-based guidance and aligning EHS strategies with business objectives.
  • Translate enterprise goals into regional strategies and actionable plans that drive continuous improvement, strengthen compliance, and advance a proactive EHS culture.
  • Lead and influence a regional team of EHS professionals, including dotted-line resources, to ensure alignment, accountability, and consistent execution of EHS standards.
  • Drive standardization and adoption of EHS processes, tools, and best practices across sites, effectively leading change and managing competing priorities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and strong safety leadership across the region.
  • Oversee risk identification and mitigation activities, including risk assessments, hazard analyses, PPE evaluations, and waste management practices.
  • Ensure effective compliance monitoring, auditing, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review and analyze EHS regulations; represent the company with regulatory agencies and in industry forums.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external regulators, demonstrating professionalism and transparency.
  • Serve as a leader in incident response and escalation, ensuring timely decision making, effective root cause analysis and sustainable corrective and preventative actions.
  • Represent the region within enterprise EHS leadership teams, contributing to strategy, sharing best practices, and influencing enterprise initiatives.
