About The Position

The Senior EHS Manager is a strategic leadership role within our Technical Services Group (TSG), accountable for shaping and sustaining a high‑performance safety culture across all workplace and project environments. This leader drives proactive incident prevention, establishes long‑range EHS strategies, and ensures operational excellence through data‑driven decision‑making, KPI alignment, and continuous improvement of EHS systems, behaviors, and processes. The Senior EHS Manager oversees EHS planning and execution for complex projects, leads workforce readiness through talent development and certification programs, and ensures full compliance with PTG’s B‑SAFE program and all regulatory requirements. This role requires exceptional communication and stakeholder management, partnering closely with business unit leadership, customers, subcontractors, and corporate EHS to anticipate risks, influence behaviors, and elevate safety performance across the organization.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of construction, technical services, and high‑risk industry safety regulations and standards.

  • Proficiency with EHS management systems, audit tools, and Microsoft Office/Teams platforms.
  • Expertise in emergency response planning, high‑risk work controls, and incident‑prevention methodologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field; 10+ years of progressive EHS experience, including leadership of multi‑site or large‑scale construction programs.
  • Demonstrated success managing and developing EHS teams.
  • Proven experience leading EHS programs in construction, technical services, or similarly complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience implementing EHS management software and digital reporting systems.
  • Background in construction safety and project management strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic EHS leadership by developing multi‑year safety roadmaps, setting measurable objectives, and driving a proactive incident‑prevention culture across all TSG operations.
  • Lead EHS planning for major projects, including bid‑phase risk reviews, resource forecasting, and development of advanced project‑specific EHS plans.
  • Serve as the senior advisor to BU leadership, ensuring alignment on risk tolerance, regulatory requirements, and operational expectations.
  • Conduct high‑level safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify systemic hazards, emerging risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and approve complex JHAs, Hazard Communication Plans, and high‑risk work procedures tailored to project scope, environment, and client requirements.
  • Oversee incident prevention programs, ensuring thorough investigations, trend analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions that address systemic root causes.
  • Lead organizational training strategy, including advanced safety training, emergency response programs, competency development, and certification pathways for field personnel and leaders.
  • Maintain and analyze EHS performance metrics, including leading and lagging indicators, OSHA logs, audit results, and behavioral observations to guide continuous improvement.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with all local, state, and federal requirements, and proactively monitor changes in standards and industry best practices.
  • Manage EHS equipment, PPE programs, emergency response readiness, and medical interface protocols, including HIPAA‑compliant handling of employee medical information.
  • Champion cross‑functional collaboration, influencing project managers, construction leaders, and subcontractors to adopt best‑in‑class safety practices.
  • Mentor and develop EHS staff, providing coaching, performance management, and leadership to build a strong, scalable EHS organization.
