About The Position

The Senior EHS Manager identifies existing and predictable hazards on the project sites and takes corrective measures to eliminate risk from the project sites. This role involves leading safety oversight on large, complex, or high-risk projects, conducting audits, identifying systemic issues, and driving timely resolution. The Senior EHS Manager maintains a strong field presence, models senior EHS leadership, and provides crisis-management readiness and high-hazard oversight. They also lead EHS kickoffs and high-hazard preconstruction planning, integrating EHS into complex logistics, sequencing, and execution planning, and setting expectations for risk management across projects and revenue groups. Additionally, this role advises revenue group leadership on EHS performance, risk exposure, and priorities, and supports EHS-related client coordination. The Senior EHS Manager develops and delivers senior-level EHS and leadership education, oversees curriculum development for high-risk topics and leadership sessions, and represents DAVIS at industry meetings, conferences, and forums. They manage serious incidents and event response, lead root cause analysis, and coordinate corrective actions. The role oversees Monthly Project EHS Assessments, analyzes organizational data to identify risks and performance gaps, and initiates enterprise-wide improvements. They create and manage EHS content in internal systems, establish reporting standards, and conduct independent peer audits of EHS Managers. The Senior EHS Manager develops, updates, and enforces corporate EHS policies, provides expert-level guidance on OSHA, environmental compliance, and industrial hygiene, and advises leadership on compliance strategy. They assess staffing needs, assign EHS personnel, supervise and mentor staff, and interview EHS candidates. Finally, this role leads cross-functional initiatives, contributes to enterprise planning, and coordinates with Legal, Risk Management, and People Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health + Safety Sciences or related field, or equivalent safety experience
  • At least seven (7) years of experience in occupational Environmental Health + Safety in construction
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas to employees, trade partners and clients
  • Proven management and leadership experience and skills

  • Leads cross-functional initiatives and business plan execution
  • Contributes to enterprise planning, including budgeting, staffing strategy, and software evaluation
  • Coordinates with Legal, Risk Management, People Operations, and other departments on high-risk incidents, claims, enforcement, and reputational impacts
  • Supports vendor management and evaluation of EHS tools and systems
