About The Position

The Senior EHS Leader will be responsible for EHS compliance and ensuring a safe work environment, protecting the environment and minimizing accident risks at ACSC. In this role, you will integrate and develop processes that meet site and business needs, manage issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the business EHS strategy. This category encompasses the senior leadership roles or positions that are responsible for cross functional teams. In GE, this would include the leaders of Legal, Enterprise Standards, Global Operations, Services, Resource & Environmental Strategies, Remediation, High Risk Operations and certain additional individuals who report directly to those leaders. This category also includes the EHS Managers for each of the GE Businesses. Manages a small team of professionals as well as others. Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation. Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work. Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision. May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Minimum 10 years professional level experience in interpreting and applying state and federal regulations as well as other regulatory standards (ANSI, NFPA, IEC) in a manufacturing or R&D environment
  • Professional EHS certification (CIH, CSP or equivalent)
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Responsibilities

  • Execute and ensure site operations are in compliance with all federal, state, and local EHS regulatory and GE EHS management system requirements.
  • Develop and communicate across direct organization site EHS imperatives, goals and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with operations to drive implementation of programs such management of change and stop work that drive a proactive and positive safety culture.
  • Lead EHS projects from funding through implementation.
  • Conduct learning teams in response to EHS events and conduct / validate accident investigations to determine root cause and proactive solutions.
  • Conduct EHS audits in support of compliance assurance activities
  • Provide tactical issue resolution and training at the facility level
  • Support Additive business EHS leader on execution of business EHS priorities.
