About The Position

Bully Pulpit International (BPI) is seeking a Senior Editorial Producer for a temporary, project-based role to manage the 'A Day of Unreasonable Conversation' (UC) program from concept to execution. UC is an annual summit that brings together influential figures from the entertainment industry and social impact sectors to foster discourse on urgent issues and leverage the power of stories for change. This role requires end-to-end ownership of the editorial lifecycle, including theme development, speaker booking, segment design, scripting, and on-site event management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in editorial production, live events, and working with high-profile talent, with a proven ability to design innovative formats and manage complex projects in high-pressure environments. The position is primarily remote but requires on-site presence in Los Angeles from April 4th-6th, 2026, with an intensive work cadence from January through April 2026.

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years in editorial production, live events, television, summits, or festivals, with clear examples of owning programming end to end.
  • Proven experience working directly with A-list and high-profile talent, including complex asks, sensitive stakeholders, and relationship-driven bookings.
  • Ability to design and deliver formats that move beyond standard panels, including TED-style talks, fireside chats, and structured multi-voice conversations.
  • Strong editorial judgment and story sense; ability to find real tension, structure conversations around it, and craft sharp and nuanced questions.
  • Comfort in high-pressure event environments, including juggling multiple workstreams, working from trackers and run-of-shows, and partnering closely with production, logistics, and vendors on timelines and budgets.
  • Sound judgment on sensitive editorial and compliance matters, including handling rights, releases, and reputational risk with care.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and diplomacy; ability to balance input from leadership, partners, talent teams, and funders while holding a clear editorial point of view.
  • High degree of organization and systems thinking; ability to build simple pipelines and keep them updated.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for briefs, invitations, notes, and live collaboration.
  • Comfortable working in intensive pre-event periods; extended vacations or time away must be scheduled outside the January-April 6th window.
  • Must be able to be on-site in LA at the venue for 3 days for event pre-production and the event itself (April 4th, 5th, and 6th, 2026).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the social impact sector or with mission-driven organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full editorial lifecycle for 'A Day of Unreasonable Conversation', including theme development, scripting, briefing, live editorial presence, and post-event wrap.
  • Build lists of potential speakers, moderators, and facilitators, collaborating with the Executive Producer and Talent Lead to develop prioritized talent plans for each segment.
  • Partner with the talent team to craft compelling ask letters that translate the segment's thesis and stakes into language sharp enough to secure top-tier talent.
  • Research, reach out to, and book lived-experience and issue-expert voices, thoughtfully integrating them and maintaining relationships across convenings.
  • Develop segments end to end, including shaping concepts, writing intros and questions, designing flow and transitions, and ensuring each segment has a clear thesis and narrative arc.
  • Attend regular meetings with editorial, talent, and production teams to ideate, align on progress, surface blockers, and ensure cohesive program development.
  • Design non-default formats, including lightning talks, fireside chats, interviews, and select panels, that complicate the narrative and bridge culture shapers with frontline voices.
  • Build trusted relationships with talent and speakers, serving as the editorial lead from pitch through on-stage delivery, providing high-touch support and timely communication.
  • Maintain clear editorial systems, updating trackers for segments, speaker lists, issue lanes, and approvals, and adhering to editorial pipeline timelines and milestones.
  • Collaborate with fundraising and partner teams to design sponsored segments within budget parameters, maintaining editorial integrity and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Lead scripting and briefing with the scriptwriter, co-owning the master script, segment questions, transitions, and tone; create briefing books and run pre-interviews.
  • Make segments visually compelling by partnering with production and creative teams on multimedia elements like slides, sizzle reels, and graphics.
  • Partner closely with production leads on timelines, technical needs, and show flow, attending key technical rehearsals.
  • Uphold editorial standards and safeguards, ensuring sensitive topics are handled with care, securing necessary releases, and flagging legal or reputational risks.
  • Develop titles, descriptions, and copy for attendee-facing collateral, ensuring segment and speaker copy teases the editorial vision.
  • Build comprehensive speaker packets for each segment outlining the full conversation, moderator intros, questions, format, and role details.
  • Serve as senior editorial presence on-site for the event, managing talent, addressing last-minute questions, and ensuring the editorial vision is upheld in real time.
  • Lead post-event editorial reporting, synthesizing performance, audience response, and feedback into clear takeaways and translating learnings for future convenings.

Benefits

  • Project-based role with potential for intensive, close-to-full-time cadence from January through April 6th, 2026.
