The Senior Editor will organize and edit Entertainment Weekly’s content, delivering an engaging mix of entertainment news and access. The Senior Editor will also help oversee live news coverage, working flexible hours as needed to support breaking news moments, live television coverage, and daily news priorities. Working closely with the editorial team, the Senior Editor will generate ideas, evaluate ideas from other staffers, assign reporting and writing, edit copy, continually update the pertinent editorial calendar and reviews schedule, handle day-to-day communication with publicists on exclusives, and contribute writing as needed. The position requires excellent editorial judgment, organizational, managerial, and communications skills, all in an extremely fast-paced environment. When not working on stories for their assigned vertical, the Senior Editor will also contribute to other entertainment verticals. A passion for pop culture, strong writing and reporting skills, contacts in the entertainment industry, and the ability to manage direct reports and work well with various teams are required. The Senior Editor must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, and nontraditional hours, as needed to support live television coverage, breaking news, and evolving editorial priorities.
