Senior eDiscovery Analyst

Fish & RichardsonBoston, MA

About The Position

Fish & Richardson, a premier global intellectual property law firm, is seeking a Senior eDiscovery Analyst to join its fast-paced Litigation Department. This role is part of The Hub, Fish’s remote-first group of professionals, meaning employees work primarily from home with no expectation of a regular in-office presence. The position is remote-first, with a focus on candidates in GA, TX, MA, IL, DE, MN, NY, and DC. The Senior eDiscovery Analyst will consult case teams and client representatives on best practices for ESI (Electronically Stored Information) preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, and production. They will utilize software tools to reduce data sets, work with teams and vendors to implement ESI plans, and develop documentation for ESI analysis and review. The role also involves maintaining and supporting eDiscovery applications, designing and creating databases, processing and troubleshooting ESI, and updating project management materials. Additionally, the analyst will research eDiscovery issues and solutions, stay current with relevant technologies, and design/execute AI-assisted review workflows using the Relativity aiR suite. They will serve as a subject-matter expert for generative AI and analytics tools, mentor analysts, and advise case teams on AI usage. Processing and reviewing data from cloud and collaboration sources is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience across litigation, investigations, and regulatory matters with significant working knowledge of document review technologies (e.g., RelativityOne, Active Learning/technology assisted review, and generative AI review tools).
  • Relativity Certified Administrator certification is required for the Senior level.
  • Understanding of the ESI life cycle and related industry standards.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skill set accompanied by excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrated team-building capabilities.
  • Professional demeanor, exacting attention to detail, high-quality work standards, and the ability to prioritize and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Responsiveness to all inquiries.
  • Must be able to manage the stress associated with a fast-paced work environment, including handling multiple tasks on a daily basis.
  • Hands-on experience with the Relativity aiR suite of generative-AI tools (at minimum aiR for Review and aiR for Privilege), including prompt drafting/iteration and validation of results within RelativityOne.
  • Fundamental working knowledge of large language models (LLMs) and generative AI as applied to document review — including prompt engineering, model limitations and hallucination risk, human-in-the-loop quality control, data-security considerations, and the defensibility of AI-assisted workflows.
  • Working knowledge of modern ESI data sources and types (cloud email and files, chat and collaboration data, and mobile / short-message data) and of data-privacy considerations such as PII/PHI identification and redaction.
  • Demonstrated an advanced customer service skill set for both internal and external clients.
  • Demonstrated advanced project and time management skills, including an ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and set priorities accordingly.
  • Ability to change and adapt to current and future responsibilities and circumstances, with consistent adherence to firm policies and procedures.
  • The ability to work eastern time zone hours is required.
  • The ability to meet the billable goal of 1400 hours per year.

Nice To Haves

  • Relativity Analytics Specialist and Relativity Processing Specialist certifications are preferred; Relativity aiR and other AI-related credentials are preferred as they become available.
  • eDiscovery vendor-side experience such as processing, hosting or vendor project management background is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SQL databases, Python and/or PowerShell, Excel, regular expressions, and other tools and skills useful in the manipulation of data is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Consult case teams and client representatives on best practices surrounding the preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, and production of ESI.
  • Utilize software tools (e.g. Relativity Analytics, and Active Learning / continuous active learning (CAL)) to reduce the size of potentially relevant data sets.
  • Work with case teams, client representatives, and vendors to devise and implement plans to preserve, collect, process, review, and produce ESI in a defensible manner.
  • Develop and maintain documentation surrounding ESI analysis and document review plans (e.g., reviewer statistics, responsiveness metrics, error logs).
  • Accurately maintain and support the eDiscovery applications used by the firm.
  • Design and create databases containing discovery data and other ESI.
  • Process and troubleshoot ESI; manipulate and load data.
  • Update, organize, and maintain logs, reports, and other project management materials.
  • Research and troubleshoot a wide variety of electronic discovery issues and recommend technical solutions.
  • Research and stay up to date on relevant software and technology solutions to ensure effective client support.
  • Maintain advanced technical and professional knowledge of applications, equipment, and related topics through training, vendor meetings, seminars, vendor materials, documentation, self-study, internal and external user group meetings, industry networking, and professional journals.
  • Design, execute, and validate AI-assisted review workflows using the Relativity aiR suite (including aiR for Review and aiR for Privilege, and where applicable aiR for Case Strategy and aiR for Data Breach Response) — drafting and iterating natural-language prompts/issue descriptions, sampling and quality-checking model output, and documenting a defensible validation protocol.
  • Serve as a subject-matter resource for generative AI and analytics tools, mentoring analysts and advising case teams on the appropriate use, limitations, and defensibility of AI-assisted review.
  • Process and review data from cloud and collaboration sources. (e.g., Microsoft 365 / Purview, Google Workspace, Slack, and Microsoft Teams).
