About The Position

BGC Okanagan is hiring a full-time Senior Early Childhood Educator to work in our Early Years Program at the Martin Avenue Club. This role offers an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and their families within a positive and supportive team culture. The position involves planning, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate activities, ensuring adherence to licensing regulations, and fostering strong relationships with children and their families.

Requirements

  • Early Childhood Education Certificate with current License to Practice
  • Two (2) years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Successful completion of the agency screening process, including a clear criminal record check
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and refugees with legal status)

Responsibilities

  • Welcome new children and their families to the program, ensuring all enrolment information (medical, emergency, dietary, parental forms) is complete and meets childcare licensing requirements.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate and age-specific activities and experiences for children using various techniques.
  • Develop daily program schedules that include a balance of indoor/outdoor, active/quiet, and individual/group activities.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to BGC Okanagan Policies and Childcare Licensing Regulations.
  • Identify children's abilities, interests, and needs to develop individualized and group curriculum.
  • Recommend referrals or additional services for children with professionals such as behavioral therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists.
  • Report on children's progress, behaviors, and other issues, contributing to reports for children with disabilities and maintaining records, care plans, and statistics.
  • Model developmentally appropriate activities and positive guiding techniques through daily interaction with children and team members.
  • Attend to children's physical needs, including diapering, toileting, and feeding.
  • Administer first aid and medication in accordance with established policy.
  • Maintain a healthy, safe, culturally, and developmentally appropriate environment for children's learning and growth, identifying and removing potential hazards.
  • Establish positive relationships and open communication with parents/guardians, discussing children's growth and development, and requesting input and participation in program development.
