Parsons is now hiring a Senior Drainage Engineer to join our Sandy Springs office to support major regional transportation infrastructure projects! In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of drainage systems for transportation and infrastructure projects. Working alongside experienced engineers and project managers, you will help deliver high-quality solutions that meet client needs and regulatory requirements while advancing your technical expertise. This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
  • 7+ years of related drainage, stormwater, or transportation design experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or significantly contributing to storm drain and water quality design related directly to transportation projects.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and/or Civil 3D.
  • Proven ability to lead design tasks and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CAD and other software associated with transportation design (Bentley and/or Autodesk).
  • In-depth knowledge of standard DOT/FHWA drainage, hydraulic, and hydrology standards and practices.
  • Experience with, but not limited to, SWMM Modeling tools (e.g., EPA-SWMM, XPSWMM, InfoWorks, PC-SWMM), StormCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ArcMap.
  • Strong communication skills and experience interfacing with clients and stakeholders.
  • Significant experience writing and reviewing drainage reports and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading drainage design teams and delivering complex drainage design packages.

Responsibilities

  • Lead drainage design efforts for local transportation projects and for segments of larger alternative project delivery projects.
  • Manage and oversee the work of junior and mid-level engineers and designers, including task assignment, review, and coordination.
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior staff on drainage and stormwater engineering methods, including CAD/CAE modeling software.
  • Prepare and review complex hydraulic and hydrologic analyses for storm drains, detention facilities, culverts, water quality features, and related systems.
  • Develop and review storm drain plans, profiles, details, and specifications, ensuring consistency and quality across project deliverables.
  • Coordinate closely with other design disciplines to develop comprehensive and integrated project designs.
  • Lead implementation of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standard practices on drainage deliverables.
  • Interface with clients to address review comments, clarify design issues or constraints, and represent the drainage discipline in meetings and workshops.
  • Support and participate in proposal and business development activities.
  • Lead or contribute to the preparation of drainage reports, design documentation, and supporting calculations.
