About The Position

Conectiv Supply Chain Solutions is seeking a Senior Engineer with deep expertise in distribution automation, Lean process optimization, and advanced warehouse technologies. This role is instrumental in driving engineering strategy, system integration, and continuous improvement initiatives that increase throughput, reliability, and operational efficiency within Conectiv’s Memphis Distribution Operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader with strong analytical capability, AutoCAD mastery, and proven experience deploying automated systems such as sortation technology, goods‑to‑person robotics, and AS/RS platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in distribution automation, DC engineering, or warehouse technology integration.
  • Expert proficiency in AutoCAD, with the ability to independently produce complex layouts.
  • Hands-on experience with: Automated sortation technologies, AS/RS and goods‑to‑person robotics, Conveyance, storage, and material‑handling systems.
  • Proven Lean manufacturing application (kaizen, waste elimination, standardized work).
  • Strong process design ability, including development of SOPs and visual work instructions.
  • Advanced analytical skills; proficiency in data modeling and optimization.
  • Excellent communication, cross-functional collaboration, and influence skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced distribution environment.

  • Proficiency in time studies and engineered labor standards.
  • Experience developing custom reporting tools or automated alerts.
  • SQL or database querying capability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex engineering, automation, and process-improvement initiatives across distribution and reverse logistics operations.
  • Serve as the SME for distribution automation, advanced material‑handling systems, and emerging warehouse technologies.
  • Evaluate, design, and enhance automated systems, including: Sortation technologies (linear, crossbelt, shoe sorters), Goods‑to‑person automation (AS/RS, AutoStore-like systems), Conveyance, storage, carton flow, and dynamic material‑flow systems.
  • Conduct throughput modeling, capacity analysis, and root-cause investigations.
  • Perform vendor assessments and feasibility studies for new automation solutions.
  • Apply Lean principles to eliminate waste, optimize workflows, and drive operational standardization.
  • Develop engineered process flows, current‑state and future‑state designs, and SOPs.
  • Create clear, visual work instructions and standardized work documentation for consistent execution.
  • Build analytical models and develop dashboards for: KPI performance, Slotting and velocity optimization, Labor modeling, Downtime and root-cause analytics, Capacity and resource planning.
  • Analyze complex datasets to support decision-making and evaluate automation ROI.
  • Develop engineered system layouts, automation footprints, and material-flow diagrams using AutoCAD.
  • Ensure drawings are accurate, scalable, and aligned with both current and future operational needs.
  • Present engineering recommendations, automation proposals, and financial justifications to senior leadership.
  • Train Supervisors, Engineers, and Operations leaders on new processes, tools, and system designs.
  • Support cross-site standardization and best-practice sharing.
  • Prepare engineering specifications, project scopes, technical documentation, and system drawings.
  • Lead cost-benefit analyses, financial modeling, and ROI evaluations for process improvements and automation investments.
