About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Director – US Tax Operations to join our global tax team and lead our U.S. domestic tax provision, tax accounting, and tax compliance processes. This position is an important leadership role both within the Verifone U.S. tax function and the broader Verifone global finance function, with close coordination alongside our international tax teams on cross-border matters affecting the U.S. footprint. In this role, the Senior Director – US Tax Operations will interface with personnel at various levels of the company, including regional finance, business teams, and external partners. The ideal candidate must possess strong technical and analytical skills, strong organizational and communication skills (both written and oral), be detail-oriented, hands-on, and willing to roll up their sleeves.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience with U.S. corporate income taxes, including compliance and tax accounting in public accounting and/or a corporate tax department.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. international tax provisions (GILTI, Subpart F, FDII, BEAT, foreign tax credits) as they apply to a multinational organization.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Excellent organizational skills with an ability to balance multiple priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and an analytical approach to work product.
• Ability to work effectively with others as well as independently; strong sense of ownership.
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Experienced with Oracle and business objects.

Nice To Haves

• CPA and/or an advanced degree is a plus (MS or LLM).
• Knowledge of Alteryx or other data analytics tools is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Partnering closely with the controllership and FP&A, manage both internal and external resources to prepare the U.S. portion of the interim and annual income tax provision and disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and ASC 740, including analysis of Uncertain Tax Positions, preparing appropriate reconciliations to explain changes in Effective Tax Rates, analyzing and validating deferred tax balances, and explaining period-on-period changes in all material U.S. tax accounts.
• Managing the preparation and review of U.S. federal, state, and local income tax returns with both internal resources and outside tax providers.
• Overseeing U.S. tax implications of international operations, including GILTI, Subpart F, FDII, BEAT, and foreign tax credit calculations, in coordination with the global tax team.
• Assisting with analysis and review of inter-company transactions affecting U.S. entities to ensure completeness and accuracy, as well as supporting the management of global transfer pricing documentation as it relates to U.S. reporting requirements.
• Managing U.S. federal and state income tax audits, including preparing and/or reviewing responses to tax notices and information document requests (IDRs), and determining appropriate strategies for settlement and/or resolution.
• Supporting important company and functional initiatives and projects such as transfer pricing strategy, M&A transactions, and various restructurings and legal entity rationalizations as they impact U.S. tax positions.
• Participating in tax process optimization through greater use of technologies and AI, developing and implementing procedural changes and process improvements to enhance overall efficiency, reducing reliance on external advisers, and building in-house muscle within the U.S. tax function.
• Performing various other responsibilities as discussed and agreed.
