About The Position

This is a senior, portfolio-level role with direct influence on trial design, dosing decisions, and executive strategy from day one. The Senior Director, Translational Medicine and Clinical Biomarkers will own and evolve the clinical biomarker strategy across Nurix's full clinical portfolio, setting priorities that inform patient stratification, response prediction, and resistance mechanisms for multiple concurrent programs. This role involves providing scientific interpretation of biomarker data, directing the build-out and governance of biomarker assay capabilities, and setting the strategic direction for evaluation and adoption of novel biomarker technologies. The position requires leading and integrating cross-functional, matrixed teams, providing senior scientific and strategic input into clinical trial design, and directly managing at least one direct report. The role also involves acting as a key scientific stakeholder in due diligence and business development discussions, and modeling strong executive presence and sound judgment.

Requirements

Advanced degree (Ph.D. or MD strongly preferred) with 12+ years of experience in a relevant scientific area within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, including significant experience in clinical-stage drug development
Deep translational biomarker expertise in Immunology, Oncology, or Hematology strongly preferred.
Demonstrated track record of developing and leading biomarker strategy across a clinical portfolio — spanning multiple programs or indications — with direct experience influencing clinical trial design and regulatory submissions.
Extensive technical depth across diverse platforms — flow cytometry, molecular biology, proteomics, and tissue-based assays — with the judgment to know when to engage personally versus direct through the team.
Proven people leadership experience, with at least one direct report managed to date, and demonstrated ability to scale a team in a fast-growing biotech environment.
Extensive experience in the design and authoring of clinical study protocols, informed consent forms (ICFs), laboratory manuals, and investigator meeting materials is required.
Executive-level communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership, Board members, and external partners on biomarker strategy and its implications for program decisions.
Strong strategic and organizational judgment, with experience balancing portfolio-level priorities against individual program needs in a resource-constrained environment.
A track record of operating effectively in ambiguity, with the credibility and gravitas to be a trusted senior partner to clinical, research, and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

Own and evolve the clinical biomarker strategy across Nurix's full clinical portfolio, setting priorities that inform patient stratification, response prediction, and resistance mechanisms for multiple concurrent programs.
Provide scientific interpretation of biomarker data, informed by a strong understanding of cell and tumor biology, molecular biology, inflammation, and immuno-oncology, helping translate those insights into patient-selection, dose-selection, go/no-go, and program-level development decisions.
Direct the build-out and governance of biomarker assay capabilities across the portfolio, including assay qualification standards, platform strategy, and vendor/CRO oversight, to ensure consistent, scalable execution across programs rather than one-off, program-specific solutions.
Set the strategic direction for evaluation and adoption of novel biomarker technologies and platforms, positioning Nurix's biomarker capabilities ahead of program needs rather than reacting to them.
Lead and integrate cross-functional, matrixed teams spanning clinical development, research, regulatory, and external collaborators, ensuring biomarker data is embedded in clinical development plans and regulatory strategy at the portfolio level.
Provide senior scientific and strategic input into clinical trial design across programs, influencing go/no-go and dose-selection decisions where biomarker data is a critical input.
Directly manage and develop at least one direct report, with responsibility for hiring and scaling the team as pipeline needs grow.
Act as a key scientific stakeholder in due diligence, business development, and external partnership discussions where biomarker strategy or capabilities are relevant.
Model strong executive presence and sound judgment under ambiguity, translating complex biomarker science for scientific and non-scientific audiences alike, including executive leadership and the Board.
