About The Position

FTI Consulting is seeking a Senior Director to join their growing Transactions Tax team, which is aligned with the Corporate Finance & Restructuring organization. This team focuses on clients’ strategic, operational, financial, and capital needs by addressing financial and transactional opportunities for corporations, boards, private equity sponsors, creditor constituencies, and other stakeholders. With teams in North America, the United Kingdom, and Dubai, the Transactions Tax team advises domestic and multinational businesses on tax matters ranging from transaction support to process implementation and structuring, aiming to mitigate tax risk and minimize cost. The role involves working with and learning from a senior management team of leaders qualified in accounting, tax, law, and real estate surveying, as well as valuations, technology experts, and economists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study
  • 7+ years of post-graduate combined professional experience
  • Ability to travel to clients and FTI office(s)
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas

Nice To Haves

  • MS, JD and/or CPA
  • 7+ years of U.S. federal income tax experience
  • Mergers and acquisitions tax experience
  • Experience with tax research and the ability to analyze and apply rules in a broad range of tax areas and issues
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and full MS Office suite

Responsibilities

  • Assist private equity and corporate clients with tax due diligence, tax structuring, and tax modeling on buy-side and sell-side transactions.
  • Prepare tax due diligence reports for C-suite audience.
  • Direct complex tax research and formulate tax planning strategies.
  • Apply and interpret U.S. federal income tax law as it relates to tax due diligence and advisory including Subchapter C, Subchapter K, Subchapter S, consolidated groups, tax accounting methods, taxable and non-taxable transactions, and tax attributes.
  • Review and comment on purchase agreement and disclosure schedules.
  • Assist in advising clients by identifying post-closing opportunities and services.
  • Provide direction to maintain communication with clients and staff members on engagements, while updating senior team members on progress and issues.
