Senior Director, Software Engineering

ZoomInfo Technologies LLCRemote, HI
$224,000 - $352,000Hybrid

About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Director of Engineering to lead the Integrations, Workflows / Orchestration and Data Management groups within our Platform Engineering organization. This is a high-impact, high-visibility leadership role responsible for the connectors, integrations and outgoing data orchestration to push ZoomInfo’s data product to customer systems. You will lead a team of approximately 40 engineers and contractors across three pillars: Integrations, Workflows and Orchestration, and Data Management. This role sits at the critical junction of activation – enabling the export and consumption of ZoomInfo’s data product to customers and their systems. You will set the strategic direction, drive platform modernization, and build the organizational systems that allow us to continue expanding our data reach. You will do this through three experienced Managers who bring deep technical expertise — your job is to provide the vision, remove obstacles, and ensure the work connects to business outcomes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software/platform engineering, integrations, or data engineering leadership roles, with at least 4 years at the Director level or above.
  • Experience leading and scaling engineering organizations of 25+ people through managers, with a track record of building high-performing teams and developing talent.
  • Strong working knowledge of backend and distributed systems technologies including Java (Spring Boot), Node.js (NestJS), Kafka, and workflow orchestration platforms (Temporal, Google Cloud Workflows, or similar). You do not need to be the deepest technical expert — but you need to understand architecture trade-offs, ask the right questions, and make informed strategic decisions.
  • Experience owning integrations or connector ecosystems that sync data across CRM, marketing automation, sales engagement, and data warehouse platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo, Snowflake, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage through managers — setting direction, aligning priorities, and holding leaders accountable for outcomes without micromanaging execution.
  • Experience with data quality and data management practices — deduplication, standardization, enrichment, and compliance (GDPR/CCPA) at enterprise scale.
  • Proven cross-functional partnership skills with business and product stakeholders — translating ambiguous business needs into structured technical solutions.
  • Experience driving platform modernization initiatives — whether re-architecting event-driven systems, consolidating integration patterns, or improving reliability and observability.
  • Strong vendor and partner management experience including contract negotiations, build-vs-buy evaluations, and SaaS cost optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills — able to present strategy, trade-offs, and progress to executive leadership in both written and verbal formats.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with event streaming and orchestration at scale (Kafka, Temporal, Airflow, Google Cloud Workflows).
  • Exposure to no-code/low-code workflow builders and business-user-facing automation tools.
  • Experience with API strategy, webhooks, and partner/ISV integration programs.
  • Experience with multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP) and cloud infrastructure modernization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop three experienced Managers and their teams (~40 engineers and contractors) spanning Integrations, Workflows and Orchestration, and Data Management.
  • Set the multi-quarter roadmap across all three pillars, balancing new connector and workflow capacity, platform reliability, data quality, and compliance priorities.
  • Build a high-performance engineering culture grounded in ownership, accountability, and operational excellence across distributed, event-driven systems.
  • Drive headcount planning, organizational design, and career development frameworks that attract and retain top talent across a distributed team.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to the VP of Software Engineering, contributing to broader platform engineering strategy and organizational decisions.
  • Establish clear prioritization frameworks to manage competing demands across new integrations, workflow reliability, data quality remediation, and customer escalations.
  • Work with the Product team and own the strategy and roadmap for ZoomInfo's library of native integrations and APIs connecting the platform to CRM, marketing automation, sales engagement, data warehouse, and BI systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo, Outreach, Snowflake, and others).
  • Guide the architecture of scalable, fault-tolerant backend services (Java/Spring Boot, Node.js/NestJS) and event-driven integration patterns built on Kafka and similar streaming technologies.
  • Drive prioritization of new connector development and partner/ISV integrations that expand ZoomInfo's reach into customer tech stacks.
  • Ensure integrations meet enterprise standards for reliability, throughput, observability, and security at scale, processing millions of records daily.
  • Partner with Product and Cloud Partners teams to define integration requirements, SLAs, and go-to-market timelines for new connectors.
  • Oversee API and webhook strategy, ensuring consistent versioning, documentation, and developer experience for internal and external integrators.
  • Own the strategic direction for ZoomInfo's workflow orchestration engine — powering lead-to-account matching and multi-step, cross-system business processes triggered by buying signals and business logic.
  • Guide architecture decisions for orchestration platforms (Temporal, Google Cloud Workflows, or similar) that ensure reliable job execution, retries, state management, and long-running process durability at scale.
  • Drive the roadmap for no-code/low-code workflow building blocks that let customers configure conditional logic to transform, route, and enrich data across systems without engineering support.
  • Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability of systems processing millions of events and workflow executions daily, with strong observability (logging, tracing, metrics).
  • Partner with Product to define execution guarantees (SLAs/SLOs) and expand orchestration capabilities to new use cases such as territory management, predictive scoring triggers, and campaign orchestration.
  • Establish best practices for workflow design, idempotency, and error handling across the organization's distributed systems.
  • Own the strategy for ZoomInfo's data quality and data management capabilities — deduplication, standardization, enrichment, and continuous verification that keep customer CRM and GTM records accurate and current.
  • Guide the architecture of matching-and-merging logic, multi-vendor enrichment waterfalls, and real-time change detection that prevent data decay across customer systems.
  • Ensure the platform enforces perimeter protection — blocking bad data at point of entry through validation rules and real-time data quality checks.
  • Own compliance and governance capabilities including GDPR/CCPA suppression lists and audit trails.
  • Partner with Product and Legal/Compliance teams to evolve data handling standards as privacy regulations and customer requirements change.
  • Drive observability and monitoring for data quality metrics, ensuring proactive detection and remediation of degraded or non-compliant data before it reaches customers.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define requirements for new connectors, workflow use cases, and data quality SLAs that inform the product roadmap.
  • Drive enablement programs — documentation, training, and onboarding — that help internal teams and customers adopt new integrations and orchestration capabilities.
  • Represent Integrations, Workflows/Orchestration, and Data Management in strategic planning conversations, company projects, and technology decisions with customer-facing implications.
  • Manage vendor and partner relationships and contracts, negotiating strategically to optimize cost, capability, and long-term flexibility.
