Position Summary The Senior Director, Scientific Integration is a senior leadership role responsible for scientific integration (program strategic and technical leadership), strategy and innovation, and business operations across the biologics R&D portfolio within Drug Product Development & Delivery (DPD&D). This leader operates at the intersection of science, portfolio execution, and enterprise leadership – ensuring alignment across therapeutic areas, modalities, and global stakeholders. This role requires the ability to influence senior internal leaders and external partners, navigate complex matrixed environments, and drive alignment across early and late stage development programs to enable successful regulatory submissions, approvals and commercialization readiness.

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant area of study (e.g., Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering), or Master’s degree with equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience, including significant expertise in biotherapeutics product development, drug delivery systems, and the overall drug development process.
  • Demonstrated track record across multiple R&D disciplines, including early stage, late stage, lifecycle management, and manufacturing/process interfaces.
  • Regulatory experience authoring and/or reviewing global marketing applications and dossier content for biologics.
  • People leadership experience with direct supervision of senior scientists and leadership of large cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior internal stakeholders and external partners and to deliver results in a complex, matrixed environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with digital approaches (e.g., AI/ML, modeling, in silico) is an advantage (not a primary selection driver).

Responsibilities

  • Lead scientific integration (program strategic and technical leadership) across early and late-stage biologics programs; drive strategic, technical, and intellectual leadership across programs/projects.
  • Provide senior scientific direction and mentorship to scientific integrators (DPD&D program leaders); lead and elevate an established team of senior scientific leaders (leader of leaders).
  • Influence and align senior internal stakeholders and external colleagues/partners across regions, therapeutic areas, and functional areas.
  • Drive resolution of complex functional and cross-functional issues across a highly matrixed stakeholder landscape.
  • Lead portfolio-level alignment across Oncology, Immunology, and Neuroscience in a TA-agnostic capacity.
  • Operate across modalities including proteins/biologics, synthetics, drug delivery systems and combination products, and enabling platform technologies.
  • Contribute to innovation strategy, intellectual property considerations, and business operations within DPD&D and Discovery, product Development & Supply.
  • Ensure alignment toward regulatory submission and launch readiness through integrated portfolio leadership.
