The Senior Director of Product Design is a senior creative contributor responsible for shaping the product design vision for TCG titles within the Fanatics portfolio. This role drives the creative strategy for how our games come to life as physical and digital products—defining what excellence looks like and raising the bar for everything we ship. You’ll work hands-on across key titles, leading product design efforts from early concept through production across cards, packaging, supplementary products, and collector experiences. You’ll partner closely with game design, art, brand, and product management to translate creative ambition into market-ready executions. As the studio grows, you’ll also serve as a creative mentor—helping develop talent and establish the standards and processes that shape how our team works. This is a role for someone who has shipped world-class products in TCGs, collectibles, or adjacent categories—and who is ready to help build something new from the ground up. You bring a strong creative point of view, the senior judgment to operate independently, and the strategic instinct to connect design decisions to business outcomes.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional experience in product design, creative direction, or a related discipline, with meaningful time spent in TCGs, collectibles, tabletop gaming, or adjacent categories
  • Proven track record of shipping successful physical and/or digital products at scale
  • Deep firsthand knowledge of trading card games as a player, collector, or industry professional
  • Experience operating in early-stage or high-growth environments—comfortable working without established infrastructure
  • A portfolio or body of work that demonstrates strategic thinking, creative range, and a commitment to craft

Responsibilities

  • Drive the product design vision and creative standards for assigned TCG titles, ensuring a best-in-class player and collector experience
  • Lead product design efforts from initial concept through production—across cards, packaging, premium products, and collector experiences
  • Partner with game design to ensure product expressions reinforce and elevate core gameplay and metagame systems
  • Collaborate with art direction and brand to develop and evolve visual identity systems for titles in development
  • Work with product management and commercial teams to align product design decisions with market positioning, pricing strategy, and revenue goals
  • Help establish and refine the studio’s product design process, including prototyping workflows, review cadences, and quality gates
  • Mentor and develop junior designers and cross-functional collaborators, raising creative capability across the studio
  • Identify and evaluate emerging trends in collectibles, gaming, and adjacent fan culture to inform product direction and innovation
  • Present creative strategies and product design rationale to senior leadership, building alignment across the organization
  • Champion a culture of creative excellence, rapid experimentation, and player-first thinking
