About The Position

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Director of Technical Assistance leads a Technical Assistance Team of (up to) 11 staff members, including managers, senior associates, and associates of Community Outreach. This leader serves as a trusted advisor to and a member of EPN's senior leadership team. They will leverage exemplary team management skills combined with environmental justice and/or social justice expertise to meet the evolving needs of a robust team. The core focus of this role is to create an inclusive culture by establishing operational systems and structures to manage the execution of 11+ staff members.

Requirements

  • Commitment to Environmental Protection Network’s mission and values
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Progressive experience in the environmental justice/energy justice/social justice sector
  • Minimum of 10 years in a leadership role, managing teams, and at least 5 years of directly managing staff
  • Exceptional people management skills, with the ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment
  • Experience working with an executive leadership team
  • Experience with leading and guiding teams through change
  • Experience overseeing contracted services
  • A strategic and systems-thinking approach
  • Excellent communication and relational skills to lead and develop diverse teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Canva and/or other presentation tools
  • Familiarity with Google Docs Editors Suite (Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Drives a comprehensive national Technical Assistance strategy
  • Serves as a member of the executive leadership team to advance the mission of EPN through our critical Technical Assistance work
  • Manages the Technical Assistance team of 11 full-time remote staff members
  • Ongoing check-ins
  • Formal Performance Management (twice annually)
  • Ongoing Coaching and Development
  • Supports team-wide meetings and spaces
  • Develops an annual strategic operational plan for Technical Assistance at EPN (inclusive of systems to track and monitor priorities, goals, and metrics across the team)
  • Identifies and delegates special projects to senior associates and managers as relevant
  • Monitors and supports managers of technical assistance with staff hiring, onboarding, and training
  • Supports the team through changes in expectations, structure, or protocol when necessary
  • Manages the daily operations of the Technical Assistance team, including 11 full-time remote staff members
  • Manages Technical Assistance contracts
  • Leads continuous improvement for Technical Assistance at EPN, including systematizing internal communication, volunteer management, database management, and utilization, etc.
  • Leads database collaboration
  • Supports key external coalitions/relationships across our Technical Assistance work
  • Represents EPN at conferences and events
