About The Position

The Senior Director of Organizational Excellence is responsible for designing and executing enterprise-wide strategies that improve operational performance, workforce effectiveness, and customer satisfaction across all distribution and transportation operations. This role leads continuous improvement initiatives, standardization efforts, leadership capability development, and performance management systems to ensure scalable, efficient, and world-class execution across the network.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in logistics, supply chain, or 3PL operations
  • 5+ years in senior leadership (multi-site responsibility preferred)
  • Proven track record in continuous improvement and operational transformation
  • Deep understanding of warehouse operations and labor models
  • Deep understanding of transportation and distribution networks
  • Strong background in Lean / Six Sigma methodologies
  • Strong background in data analytics and KPI management
  • Ability to influence cross-functional leaders without direct authority

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-wide Lean / Six Sigma / Kaizen initiatives across warehouse and transportation operations
  • Identify inefficiencies in labor productivity, workflow design, and material handling processes
  • Drive improvements in throughput and dock-to-stock times, order accuracy and inventory integrity, and cost per unit / cost per mile
  • Implement standardized operating procedures (SOPs) across all sites
  • Develop and oversee a company-wide performance framework aligned to KPIs such as Productivity (units per labor hour), Safety (incident rates), Quality (claims, errors, damages), and Service (OTIF – On Time In Full)
  • Partner with Finance and Operations to deliver flash reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Establish dashboards and reporting cadence for executive visibility
  • Partner with HR to align performance management systems (e.g., Lattice) with operational goals
  • Drive leadership capability through coaching frontline leaders (Supervisors, Ops Managers, GMs), succession planning and leadership pipeline development, and standardized onboarding and training programs
  • Improve engagement, retention, and culture through structured initiatives
  • Build and enforce standardized processes across warehouse operations (receiving, picking, shipping), transportation coordination and routing, and safety procedures and compliance
  • Ensure consistency across multi-site operations while allowing for customer-specific customization where required
  • Lead audit programs to ensure adherence to standards
  • Partner with Sales and Operations to support new customer implementations, optimize existing customer operations, and improve service-level performance
  • Act as a key escalation point for operational performance issues impacting customers
  • Evaluate and implement tools that improve efficiency, such as WMS/TMS optimization, labor management systems, and automation opportunities
  • Drive adoption of digital tools for reporting, training, and workflow execution
