About The Position

The Senior Director of Operations is responsible for a variety of programmatic operations including, but not limited to, child care partner services, written communication, procedures and guidelines within the program, and oversight of Office of Head Start program content area of Education. This role partners with the Chief Program Officer to ensure consistent, compliant, and high-quality operations. This position provides leadership through direct supervision of the Education team and supports consistent practice, staffing stability, health and safety, accreditation, and fiscal accountability across assigned operational areas. This role supports the implementation of Head Start and Early Head Start requirements at the program level and ensures clear communication and reporting as part of the agency’s internal leadership. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience overseeing program delivery with a focus on Education.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and expectations simultaneously.
  • Experience supporting the implementation and operational requirements of Head Start and Early Head Start services.
  • Experience in staffing leadership, safety oversight, accreditation, and budget management.
  • Experience supporting the implementation of systems and services related to children and families in other service settings.
  • Experience in a multi-site service delivery environments.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of Head Start Program Performance Standards and Childcare Licensing requirements (local and state).
  • Ability to accurately interpret and implement a variety of regulations related to Oklahoma Childcare Licensing, accreditation bodies (e.g. NAEYC), Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Act, OHS Information Memorandums, Program Information Memo’s and other communications.
  • Demonstrated well-developed leadership ability, strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff in a consistent, supportive and accountable manner.
  • Ability to work and communicate in a professional manner, demonstrating dignity and respect for our internal, external and community members.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize a variety of work assignments.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, work independently and exercise critical thinking skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications and the ability to master other software as needed.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and state required vehicle insurance for any vehicle used in performance of job duties.
  • Ability to navigate multiple software systems and curriculums including, but not limited to, ChildPlus, Sage, Martus, Teaching Strategies Gold, Devereux Early Childhood Assessment, CLASS, Conscious Discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational oversight of the Education team to ensure consistent implementation of Head Start, Early Head Start, state child care licensing, accreditation requirements, and other grant and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management of the Education Director, and Education team.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children, families, and staff across the program, including emergency preparedness and incident response.
  • Provide oversight and guidance of the NAEYC accreditation standards, where applicable, and support continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Oversee assigned budgets, expenditures, and financial reports to ensure fiscal accountability and alignment with approved plans.
  • Provide data-driven reports and strategies for efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Provide leadership and monitoring of the programs Integrated Service Plans (ISP).
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners including DHS, OHS, OECP, NAEYC, and the Educare Network to support compliance readiness and strong operations.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Internal Operations Team and Leadership Team.
  • Represent Sunbeam in community partnerships, collaborations, and special initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other appropriate and related responsibilities as assigned by supervisor or a member of the Executive Team.
