About The Position

The Senior Director of Missionary Discipleship leads the planning and oversight of our parish ministries, both those that serve our own people and those that reach beyond our doors. The work is grounded in three essential habits: Divine Intimacy, Virtuous Friendship, and the Little Way of Evangelization. You'll work closely with the Pastor to carry his vision for missionary discipleship into every ministry. You'll lead by personal accompaniment. That means walking with and supporting the leaders of Faith Formation, Youth Ministry, Outreach and Evangelization, Healing Ministry, Discipleship, Family Life, and Social Justice. The goal is simple to say and hard to do: move our parishes from maintenance to mission at every key moment of discipleship. You'll do it by building mentorship teams that care for the whole person at every stage of life.

Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing, devoted to prayer and the sacraments, and passionate about serving the Church and the mission of Our Lady of the Falls.

  • Five or more years of professional leadership experience, ideally leading teams in a large parish, diocese, or Catholic nonprofit.

  • Comfort with Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365, email, calendars, databases, and standard office technology.
  • Willingness to learn parish management and church administrative software.
  • Successful completion of all diocesan background checks and Protect and Heal training.

  • A welcoming, service-minded presence with parishioners and visitors.
  • Support for parish policies, diocesan requirements, and appropriate standards of confidentiality and professional conduct.

Nice To Haves

  • Build, carry out, and track a long-term plan for parish growth and evangelization using the Win, Build, Send model.
  • Give direction, accompaniment, and accountability to every parish ministry department, making sure each program is faithful to Catholic teaching and serves the mission of Our Lady of the Falls.
  • Lead regular ministry staff meetings that break down silos, share resources, and plan major parish-wide events like parish missions and stewardship campaigns.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate professional ministry staff and key volunteer coordinators.
  • Mentor staff and volunteer leaders in leadership, team building, volunteer recruitment, and pastoral care.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for resolving overlaps between programs, volunteer concerns, and day-to-day ministry challenges.
  • Build ways to identify, invite, and match parishioners' gifts to ministry, so people move from sitting in the pew to living as active disciples.
  • Create one consistent process across all ministries for onboarding, screening, training, and thanking volunteer leaders.
  • Build a lasting pipeline of lay leaders who can run small groups, service committees, and parish organizations on their own.
  • Review and combine annual budgets for all ministry departments, and bring recommendations to the Director of Finance and Facilities and the Pastor.
  • Review the master parish calendar with the Director of Administration and Communications to make the best use of space and prevent scheduling conflicts between ministries.
  • Partner with the Director of Administration and Communications so ministry promotion, bulletins, the website, and social media all share one clear message.
  • Oversee and enforce all diocesan safety requirements, making sure volunteers are cleared before they serve.
  • Confirm every active volunteer has completed a criminal background check, fingerprinting when required, and Protect and Heal mandated reporter training.
  • Keep accurate, confidential digital records of each volunteer's status, and make sure no one who hasn't been cleared serves in restricted ministries, especially those with youth or vulnerable adults.
