The Senior Director of Engagement and Stewardship (SDES) provides direction and coordination of engagement and stewardship strategies for the College of Education and Human Ecology (EHE) and its alumni base of more than 98,000 alumni. This role will develop a new model for collaboration between an academic unit, University Advancement and the Alumni Association to create a prototype for partnership that elevates the engagement and experiences of alumni and friends for EHE. The SDES leads the development of a comprehensive donor recognition and stewardship plan for the college with the goal of driving donor satisfaction and continued giving. This role also provides strategic direction on stewardship, including gift acknowledgments, impact reporting, fund management, personalized stewardship plans, and correspondence with major gift donors from leadership. The SDES will supervise assigned support staff to oversee the essential component of building a healthy pipeline of engaged alumni, donors, and volunteers that will contribute to establishing the annual fundraising goals within EHE and align with university goals. As a member of the EHE Advancement team and an active partner with colleagues across campus and the Alumni Association, the SDES develops and coordinates opportunities for EHE alumni, donors, and friends that broaden and deepen relationships, promoting engagement and stewardship both universally and college-specific. The SDES serves as a subject-matter expert to OSUAA peers, providing insight into the alumni population, faculty, college, and programs. This position identifies opportunities for cross-institution programming activities, embracing the university/Advancement calendar to work pro-actively with all partners to ensure maximized funding with alumni engagement and stewardship experiences. The SDES has organizational responsibility for the collection and recording of data to ensure that all EHE events and volunteer activities are incorporated into the advancement database, which will be required to track the effectiveness of programming. In addition, the SDES is responsible for the college's overall volunteer engagement and stewardship strategy that sets the tone for how engagement, stewardship, and development officers work with volunteer groups and the EHE advancement leadership team. The SDES will manage the EHE Alumni Society, developing meaningful agendas and best practices for committee oversight, and overseeing the work of engagement officers who are partnered with DOs, departments, and departmental advisory committees. All members of Advancement are part of creating an inclusive culture that inspires an exceptionally diverse and talented team and are measured on their adherence to the following core competencies: leadership, continuous improvement, teamwork and collaboration, and communication/interpersonal effectiveness. This role requires the ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends, and travel.
