About The Position

Gaudenzia is seeking a Senior Director of Development to support the strategic growth of its fundraising efforts and manage the department's operations. This role involves overseeing data management, reporting, and analysis to support fundraising goals, ensuring efficient donor services, achieving financial targets, and implementing pipeline growth strategies. The position requires a commitment to expanding the fundraising program, adapting to philanthropic trends, and fostering a culture of philanthropy within the organization. The Senior Director will conduct and support private sector fundraising activities and initiatives. This position requires 25% travel to Gaudenzia treatment locations throughout the region.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Community Affairs, Public Relations, Fundraising, or relatable degree
  • At least five years of experience in fundraising and community affairs
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with effective business, technical, and persuasive writing styles
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong research skills with ability to analyze, synthesize, and present information from different sources concisely and compellingly
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams across the organization, as well as communicate efforts effectively
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects and produce high quality work against a deadline
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity
  • Ability to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with grants databases and prospect research tools
  • Knowledge of behavioral health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and program development, including ASAM levels of care and evidence-based practices for the treatment of SUD and co-occurring disorders
  • Knowledge of and experience with successful proposal development

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships with diverse internal & external stakeholder groups.
  • Write, edit, and submit grant proposals by the required deadline, with particular attention paid to ensuring completeness against grant instructions, grammar, and style.
  • Increase philanthropic/foundation relationship building and related prospecting of private foundations.
  • Attend pre-bidder's conferences, draft proposal summaries for review by organizational leadership, and schedule and attend proposal planning meetings with relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Support the development of goals, outcomes, and evaluation metrics by which the success of grant proposals will be measured.
  • Establish grant opportunities by county and region for programs by the required deadline.
  • Make suggestions for foundation partnerships and business collaborations.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, accounting, and philanthropy team members.
  • Include key stakeholders in discussions regarding grant opportunities and community collaborative relations.
  • Maintain accurate repository and database of grants submitted and received on agency's SharePoint site.
  • Conduct follow-up with funding sources on award status, as needed.
  • Understand the history, programs, outcomes, and financial needs of the agency.
  • Perform public and private prospect research to identify opportunities that support or advance the agency's mission and strategic priorities.
  • Leverage existing agency data to establish a need and develop cases for support.
  • Participate in special external events benefiting Gaudenzia, as needed, to provide support and agency visibility.
  • Oversees gift & grant recording, acknowledgement, and reporting solutions that support excellent donor stewardship and all fundraising activity.
  • Oversees the information technology that supports fundraising efforts identifying needs and developing innovative solutions for donor-centered office management.
  • With the Database and Prospect Manager, creates and updates constituent management policies and procedures to ensure consistency across Gaudenzia's fundraising efforts and to promote best practices.
  • Serves as the manager and clearinghouse for development-related actions and tracking across the institution.
