About The Position

This role provides strategic direction and technical leadership for engineering functions across multiple cluster sites, including Brampton Ontario, Billerica, MA, New Brunswick, NJ, and Haifa, ISR. The Senior Director will be responsible for evaluating engineering maturity, identifying areas for improvement, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. A key focus will be establishing and monitoring compliance with Good Engineering Practices (GEP) and engineering SOPs across all plants, while fostering a culture of safety, discipline, morale, and operational excellence within the engineering teams. The role also involves financial tracking of projects and engineering operational expenditures (Opex), reporting to management, and leading overall Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and cost reduction/avoidance initiatives. Additionally, the position will monitor and control key engineering facilities metrics such as Water Index, Power Index, and Steam Index, and work to improve plant uptime, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) metrics.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in engineering in the pharmaceutical industry is required.
  • BS in engineering is required.
  • Experience in various manufacturing environments is required including OSD, Aseptic and semi-solid.
  • Global Engineering experience with multiple sites is required.
  • Candidates are required to have experience with facilities/utilities, packaging and batch processing equipment.
  • Experience in equipment reliability and OPEX principles is required.
  • The ability to lead in a matrixed global environment is required.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including engagement with senior leadership is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and technical leadership for engineering functions across all cluster sites.
  • Evaluate engineering maturity, identify weak areas, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Establish and monitor compliance to Good Engineering Practices (GEP) and engineering SOPs across all plants.
  • Build a culture of safety, discipline, morale, and operational excellence within engineering teams.
  • Financial tracking of projects and engineering Opex from time to time and report to management.
  • Overall VSM and cost reduction and avoidance initiatives.
  • Monitoring and control of engineering key facilities metrics like Water index, Power Index, Steam Index.
  • Improvisation of Plant uptime (%age), MTBF / MTTR metrics.
  • Oversee Greenfield and brownfield projects across the complete life cycle—from concept, design, FAT/SAT, installation, commissioning, and handover.
  • Review, challenge, and finalize the cluster’s 3‑year capex roadmap; ensure alignment with corporate strategy and site priorities.
  • Ensure timely execution of projects with adherence to quality, cost, and safety standards.
  • Provide 100% technical support during internal/external audits, including regulatory inspections.
  • Conduct internal engineering and compliance audits based on site-specific procedures; ensure closure of corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory and legal requirements applicable to engineering and utilities.
  • Ensure compliance as per International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and as per ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1 for all Cluster plants.
  • Support sites in implementing, maintaining, and auditing EnMS systems.
  • Drive reduction in energy consumption through targeted improvement programs and legal compliance tracking.
  • Process optimization studies and set bench marking across sites.
  • Optimize utility systems (HVAC, boilers, water, compressed air, etc.) across sites.
  • Foster strong 5S, GEP, and COP culture across all cluster engineering teams.
  • Report site-wise COP initiatives and drive standardization of best practices.
  • Collaborate with Cluster Operations Head to develop site-level engineering strategy and execute next‑step action plans.
  • Drive culture of safety, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, finance, EHS, and corporate engineering to align engineering goals with business requirements.
  • Enable capability building through common engineering training programs across sites.
  • Build and lead a high-performing multi-site engineering leadership teams.
  • Lead engineering risk assessments across cluster sites (assets, utilities, and infrastructure).
  • Strengthen redundancy, disaster‑preparedness, and reliability improvement plans.
