About The Position

Senior Director, Mortgage Impairment, will be responsible for managing the mortgage impairment product line at HUB Financial Services. The role involves supporting the sales process, providing subject coverage level expertise, managing new business and renewal business underwriting and policy issuance, account level management, sub-agent and internal producer support, claims support and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree.
  • 10+ years of relevant product line experience, 5+ years in a leadership role within the financial institutions insurance industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of mortgage impairment insurance coverages and claim handling.
  • Strong knowledge of financial institution insurance regulations and risk management practices.
  • Excellent process improvement and process management skills.
  • Ability to work with a high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Ability and willingness to utilize the company’s computer system and software
  • Ability to understand policy forms and coverage descriptions.
  • Willingness to attend educational classes is desired
  • P&C License

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with community bank bond / D&O / property and casualty insurance programs is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Underwriting Management – Mortgage Impairment Lead the underwriting process for new and renewal business.
  • Responsible for reviewing mortgage impairment insurance applications and any associated information that is deemed necessary for diligent underwriting.
  • This role may act in an underwriting support capacity for certain designated clients.
  • Facilitate obtaining necessary underwriting data by working directly with financial institutions and associated sub-agents and HUB producers.
  • Educate financial institutions on policy coverages and conditions to ensure a firm understanding of the loan origination and ongoing insurance tracking requirements that may impact coverage.
  • Work directly with HFS Lloyd’s mortgage impairment facilities on new business / renewal business placements and midterm policy modifications.
  • Oversee and actively manage policy issuance and renewal processes.
  • Create and maintain structure for detailed retained underwriting file.
  • Monitor overall product line underwriting and HFS profitability.
  • Product Subject Matter Expertise & Support Act as mortgage impairment subject matter expert in supporting new business revenue and renewal business, directly working with financial institutions, sub-agents and internal HUB producers.
  • Create regular product level content to be published through our HFS website, HFS webinars and associated HFS digital media outlets.
  • Provide guidance for coverage level questions including providing guidance on mortgage impairment warranty requirements.
  • Prepare coverage reviews and comparisons on as needed basis.
  • Present at industry events.
  • Monitor competitive landscape and market trends.
  • Account and Sub-Agent Management Act as primary point of contact for financial institution clients including direct written and identified existing HFS mortgage impairment client financial institutions.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with key accounts and sub-agents.
  • Act as primary point of contact for designated sub-agents.
  • Provide active engagement support for any submitted mortgage impairment insurance claims.
  • Act as primary point of contact for designated sub agents.
  • Product Line Growth Analyze market trends, client needs, risk factors, and regulatory changes to ensure HFS has a best-in-class mortgage impairment insurance product.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop impactful marketing strategies and materials to drive profitable growth.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities with existing clients and position HFS as a resource for all financial institution products and services.
  • Prepare revenue forecasts and budget projections.
  • Operational & Process Create automated workflows and underwriting analysis process that supports Lloyd’s facility guidelines and best practices for underwriting new and renewal business.
  • Develop automated workflows to support a timely policy issuance process.
  • Create and manage retained underwriting file documentation.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators.
  • Compliance & Regulation Stay current on regulatory changes affecting mortgage impairment insurance and that underwriting practices comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ensure adherence to surplus lines licensing and filing requirements.
  • Liaise with legal and compliance teams to address any regulatory concerns.
  • Manage and support annual Lloyd’s mortgage impairment insurance audit.
  • Other Duties The responsibilities above represent the principal functions and expected skill level for this role. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to meet operational demands, cover absences, address peak workload periods, or support other business functions.
