About The Position

The Senior Director, Merchandising Execution, leads strategic inventory planning and operational performance across complex business units. This role drives supplier relationships, contract management, and financial oversight to ensure alignment with business goals. By developing and implementing merchandising programs and cross-functional initiatives, the position supports store operations and corporate processes. The role requires strong leadership in talent development, business strategy execution, and continuous improvement, fostering collaboration with senior leadership and stakeholders to achieve measurable results while upholding the highest standards of integrity and operational excellence. This team plays a vital role in executing the merchandising strategy within Hardware and DIY (D11/12), managing a seasonal business with committed and replenishable products. They oversee the full lifecycle from Buy Planning, Allocation, and Flow Planning to collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure efficient merchandise delivery to stores. By analyzing key performance indicators, the team guides the business toward financial objectives. Their planning and execution significantly impact seasonal results and provide valuable exposure to Merchandising, Store Operations, and Supply Chain functions, supporting operational excellence and business growth.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience driving merchandising strategies and operational performance in complex retail environments.
  • Expertise in inventory planning, financial analysis, and budget management to optimize category performance and markdowns.
  • Strong skills in supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and risk mitigation to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ability to develop and execute cross-functional business strategies aligned with corporate goals.
  • Experience managing teams, fostering talent development, and promoting accountability.
  • Proficiency in leveraging data analytics and business insights to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to integrity, ethical standards, and customer-focused execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, or related field and 6 years’ experience in merchandising management, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area OR 8 years’ experience in merchandising management, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area.
  • 4 years’ supervisory experience.
