About The Position

The Investor Relations team serves as interface between BMS & the investment community, working regularly with executive management in communicating BMS’ key messages in a consistent & strategic manner while monitoring & presenting the view of the investment community regarding the company’s performance. The Senior Director is a strategic role that involves greater responsibility and an expanded scope within Investor Relations. This role requires a proactive and dynamic leader who can drive Investor Relations goals & initiatives while leading, managing, and executing the global investor relations program. This will include developing corporate messages, presentations & analyses in support of quarterly earnings, investor conferences, medical meetings & other investor events. This individual is expected to serve as a spokesperson for day-to-day inquiries from investors & sell-side analysts, as well as monitor & analyze trading data, industry trends, & peer company performance. To perform these activities, this individual will need to collaborate across multiple functional areas in the company & in will need to work closely with corporate communications and the corporate secretaries' team to ensure alignment in messages for external audiences.

Requirements

  • Minimum education of a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field is required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of experience in investor relations, finance, marketing, planning and development, or corporate communication positions for a public company, consulting agency or financial institution is required.
  • Ability to effectively manage and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Executive presence required – ability to liaise with senior leaders in the organization including the leadership team with confidence and knowledge without much support.
  • Strong communication skills, financial and investment analysis skills, and presentation ability.
  • Superb writing skills and ability to combine scientific/technical and financial expertise to craft, effectively coordinate and communicate corporate messages and strategies appropriate for a biopharmaceutical company.
  • Understanding of the financial modeling techniques used by security analysts to project a company's operating and financial performance and the resulting value for its stock.
  • Understanding of the financial and investment markets and a good understanding of strategic communication, public relations, marketing, advertising, and the media.
  • Ability to think strategically with forward thinking and open mindset to evolve in a dynamic environment.
  • Travel required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing strategic plans to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Take lead role in developing various written materials such as key messages, Q&A and slides for use on quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences, medical meetings & other key investor events.
  • Be a productive member of cross-functional teams and foster a collaborative environment to maximize efficiency and innovation.
  • Assist the preparation & analysis of financial information by collecting, analyzing analyst models & collaborating with Financial Reporting & Financial Analysis to compare analyst models with internal projections.
  • Monitor & analyze data relating to trading activity, relevant industry data, & peer company performance, including consensus models & provide insights to IR team & management.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of BMS’ products & business, competitor & financial markets to assist in representing BMS to Investment community.
  • Conduct non-deal roadshows across North America and Europe with potential expansion to other parts of the world with and without management.
  • Implement policies and procedures that enhance productivity and operational effectiveness.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with investors, analysts, and key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure Investors & Analysts have accurate depiction of company by effectively communicating BMS messages & addressing questions from Investors & Analysts in professional manner & in line with Company & regulatory agency policies.
  • Ensure investor relations team and members of senior management are appropriately prepared for medical conferences, data publications & other asset events of interest to investment community by collaborating with Corporate Communications, global & regional development, commercial & medical teams.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering an environment of continuous growth and professional advancement.
  • Collaborate with IR colleagues & others to develop appropriate strategies for Analyst discussions in preparation for & in reaction to earnings releases & other significant events.
  • Present to internal teams on the Investor Relations function for recruitment efforts ensure we have a pipeline of high caliber talent.

Employees covered under a collective bargaining agreement should consult that document to determine if they are eligible. Contractors, leased workers and other service providers are not eligible to participate in the program.
