About The Position

Element451 is seeking a Senior Director, Integrations to lead the entire post-sales integration lifecycle. This role involves owning the technical handoff from Sales, architecting, building, and maintaining integrations between Element451 and campus systems, primarily Student Information Systems (SIS). The position requires deep subject-matter expertise in SIS integrations and will lead an existing team of integration architects, engineers, and support specialists. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on delivery execution, process improvement, and strategic partnership with Product and Engineering to evolve native integration capabilities.

Requirements

  • Deep, hands-on SIS expertise, ideally with Ellucian Banner or Colleague via the Ethos API.
  • Understanding of how campus IT, registrars, and enrollment teams operate.
  • Hands-on experience integrating a CRM with an SIS (e.g., Slate, Salesforce).
  • Understanding of student and application data flows between CRMs and SISs.
  • 8+ years in integration delivery or implementation in higher ed or B2B SaaS.
  • 3+ years leading technical teams (architects and/or engineers).
  • Experience owning delivery outcomes across a portfolio.
  • Expertise in scoping and solutioning integrations.
  • Technical fluency in REST and SOAP APIs, webhooks, and scheduled/event-driven data-pipeline orchestration (Dagster or similar).
  • Comfort with authentication patterns (API keys, bearer/session tokens, basic auth).
  • Familiarity with integration frameworks like Ellucian Ethos.
  • Experience with a Python/AWS stack (ECS, Secrets Manager, S3), MongoDB, and Snowflake/dbt data layer.
  • Ability to read payloads and pressure-test architectures.
  • Proven ability to build and structure technical delivery teams.
  • Experience setting processes and tooling for repeatable and reliable delivery.
  • Clear communication skills, able to interact with diverse stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a higher ed SaaS company.
  • Depth across platforms like Workday Student, Anthology/Campus Nexus, Populi, Destiny One, or CFNC.
  • Experience turning a managed/services offering into productized capabilities.
  • Hands-on experience with code-based orchestration (Dagster or similar), event-driven architectures, containerized deploys (Docker/AWS ECS), and integration monitoring/observability (e.g., Sentry).

Responsibilities

  • Validate signed SOWs for technical feasibility and correct sizing before team commitment.
  • Architect and scope integrations, defining data models, sync patterns, authentication, and error handling.
  • Lead the integration engineering team in the delivery of integrations through build, UAT, and go-live.
  • Own flat-file and one-off integrations beyond managed SIS connectors.
  • Manage the operational lifecycle post-go-live, including sync health, monitoring, and API versioning.
  • Oversee the chat-based Live Support experience for integration issues.
  • Define and execute the operating model, hiring, team development, process, and tooling for integrations delivery.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to shape the platform's native integration capabilities.
  • Contribute to Element451's overall integrations strategy, including LMS integrations and a 'Bring Your Own Integrations' model.
  • Define and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for integration delivery.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for customer integrations issues.
