About The Position

Overall Purpose The primary purpose of this role is to provide financial leadership and expertise in managing key areas of health plan accounting, including monthly entries, IBNR estimations, financial reporting, and audit processes. This position ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial data, compliance with SOX controls, and the development of effective financial management processes. The leader will also drive performance against financial goals and support the overall mission and objectives of the business units. Essential Functions Owns the end-to-end month-end close for health plan accounting, including the booking of medical expense reserves, revenue accruals (including RAF), capitation, and related reconciliations across the company’s payer partners. The Senior Director will be accountable for the accuracy, timeliness, and predictability of the health plan accounting close, and for delivering a standardized monthly narrative to the CFO, Controller, and FP&A leadership. Responsible for IBNR (Incurred But Not Reported) estimations and managing relationships with external actuaries. Oversee the preparation of journal entries to ensure accurate financial records. Manage settlement files related to financial transactions and agreements. Ensure timely SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) control implementation and response management to drive operational effectiveness in health plan financial reporting. Manage the audit process and address auditor inquiries related to health plan accounts. Oversee contractual relations and develop sound financial management processes. Ensure accurate monthly financial reporting in a multi-company environment, including distributing key financial indicator reports to relevant departments and partners. Ensure that financial analysis requests from departments are appropriately prioritized, communicated, and completed. Contribute to achieving the business units' mission, goals, and objectives while effectively measuring performance against financial goals. Lead with financial expertise, ensuring sound decision-making and leadership in all aspects of health plan finance. Perform any additional financial duties as requested by senior leadership.

Requirements

  • 7 – 10 years senior finance management experience within a multi entity healthcare environment, preferably managed care and global risk arrangements.
  • 3-5 years prior experience in a senior level position managing a finance department.
  • Experience in a publicly traded company.
  • Experience with SOX control management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • CPA preferred and ability to work with external auditors and various business unit management.
