The Senior Director, Global Development Technology Solutions is the principal Global R&D Technology Solutions (GRDTS) leader responsible for the ecosystem of externally developed digital & technology-related systems & platforms for the Global Development function within R&D. The Global Development function consists of multiple sub-functions including Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Safety, Clinical Development etc. As a member of the GRDTS Leadership Team, the Senior Director is an active contributor to developing and executing BeOne’s R&D digital & technology strategy, defining necessary technology investments, and driving transparency in prioritization and planning. The Senior Director and their team are responsible for ensuring the strategy is fully aligned with business needs, positioning GRDTS to deliver and realize compelling business value. The Senior Director, Global Development Technology Solutions oversees & manages the ecosystem of digital & technology systems, solutions & portfolio of projects for the Development function & its sub-functions. This Leader collaborates with other GRDTS & Global Statistics & Data Science team members to identify risks, interdependencies, and opportunities to inform financial responsibility, robust planning, and reliable execution, and partners with Global Technology Solutions (Enterprise IT) to ensure adherence to BeOne’s Enterprise technology architecture, security & compliance, and system and project life cycle governance. A successful candidate is a dynamic leader who brings deep end-to-end pharma / biotech Clinical Development domain knowledge with technical expertise related to digital & technology systems, processes, data science, analytics, AI, & genAI. Strong experience in cloud/SaaS environments, ability to manage multiple projects across different sub-functions in a global, geographically diverse environment, and building and sustaining teams in times of ambiguity are all critical success factors for this role. An ideal candidate will adapt communication cadences and problem-solving skills to accommodate stakeholders, partners, and team members, exercise diplomacy and effective influence to reach consensus, and build strong relationships.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional experience in data, digital & information technology with direct oversight and experience in / for the Clinical Development-related area in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, and/or Medical Device industries
  • 7+ years of proven leadership experience at a senior level, directing a team of multi-skilled direct reports and associate-level team members.
  • 7+ years combined experience in design, deployment, & support of Clinical Development function focused digital transformation of processes, platforms, systems, software, repositories etc.
  • Strong experience in ML/AI/genAI methods and technologies to support the Clinical Development function.
  • Business relationship management acumen and demonstrable success as a change agent leading or contributing to significant transformational initiatives in organizations.
  • Strong experience with software lifecycle methodologies, 21CFR Part 11 compliance, and GxP computer systems validation (CSV), ICH guidelines.
  • Accomplished in building and development of people and teams, comfortable working with a broad cross section of people in direct and matrixed relationships
  • Proficient in various project management disciplines (i.e., Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean etc.)

  • Governance structures co-authored with the Systems Engineering capability & GTS to ensure development platforms remain stable, highly available, and optimized during production runs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Clinical Development functions (Clinical Operations, Safety, Regulatory, Clinical Development, Pharmacology etc.) to understand their scientific strategy, priorities, and unmet digital/technology needs.
  • Define and own a multi-year Digital & Technology Roadmap for the Clinical Development organization within R&D, with a focus on externally / vendor developed solutions & systems, ensuring it directly enables key scientific milestones, accelerates discovery, and aligns with overall R&D strategy.
  • Translate complex scientific & technical needs into clear, documented, and prioritized data, digital & technology requirements and use cases.
  • Oversee the end-to-end process, from identification, assessment, onboarding, development / deployment, launch of technology systems & solutions specific to Development functions (Clinical Operations, Safety, Regulatory, Clinical Development, Pharmacology etc.).
  • Utilize subject matter expertise to advise and provide guidance to Development function & sub-function teams on ML/AI/genAI-related asks and needs for externally developed systems.
  • Lead end-to-end process assessments to identify, design and implement automation, optimization, embedded ML/AI/genAI, technology components & digital tools to enable digital transformation of Development-function processes.
  • Oversee the enforcement of rigorous data formatting, semantic consistency, and interoperability standards for all data ingested from external vendor systems, ensuring external data seamlessly maps to internal architectural requirements.
  • Partner actively with internal Data Management teams to align vendor system outputs with enterprise-wide master data management strategies, and core reference models.
  • Oversee data governance guardrails for third-party platforms, ensuring that external ecosystems handle internal datasets in strict adherence to data security, lineage tracing, and compliance mandates.
  • Lead change management programs for externally developed systems & platforms.
  • Manage the behavioral shift required for digital adoption & change management initiatives.
  • Scan the external landscape for novel digital & technology products, platforms & systems to inform the needs of the Development function.
  • Provide digital & Technology-related SME for the identification, evaluation, and management of technology vendors who provide cutting-edge scientific platforms, solutions, software etc. and / or AI/ML capabilities, as needed.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing GRDTS team dedicated to the Development function.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability and drive professional development.
  • Ensure all Development-related systems and platforms adhere to relevant pharmaceutical industry regulations and internal security policies.
  • Liaise with vendors, Enterprise IT partners, audit, and compliance to coordinate system implementation and change activities
  • Ensure the team is trained in and embeds CSV, compliance, and health authority requirements into operational activities.
  • Manage the Development function’s technology portfolio budget to maximize return on investment.
  • Act as the voice of Development function within the broader GTS (Enterprise IT) organization, ensuring it’s needs are prioritized.
  • Collaborate with other teams on standards and best practices.
  • Engage with peers to define, sponsor, and execute continuous improvements.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing GRDTS team dedicated to the Development function.
