About The Position

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a Senior Director, Global Data Science (Oncology) to work within the Global Commercial Data Science organization. This role is responsible for shaping how advanced analytics, real-world data, and AI are applied to drive critical business decisions across oncology assets, from early pipeline through global launch and in-market optimization. The individual will drive the application of Engagement.AI for Launch and Medical to the Oncology portfolio and partner across Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, R&D, and regional organizations to deliver actionable insights that accelerate patient impact and maximize portfolio value. This role reports directly to the VP, Global Data Science, GCSO, and will partner closely with other Data Science and CoE LT members.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or MS) in a quantitative or scientific discipline.
  • Significant experience (10+ years) applying data science in pharmaceutical commercial setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business questions into analytics techniques and interpret outcomes of analytical models into meaningful business insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Deep expertise in AI/ML, predictive analytics, and advanced analytics; cutting-edge application of generative and agentic AI to commercial use cases.
  • Strong partnering skills and technical domain know-how to successfully engage, influence, and lead colleagues through change in a fluid environment.
  • Strong problem solver with a solution-oriented mindset with ability to lead a cross-functional team toward innovative solutions.
  • Proven experience prioritizing and managing a complicated portfolio of projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills and the ability to clearly present complex messages and frame trade-offs.
  • Proven track record leading and scaling high-performing analytical teams to deliver measurable business impact.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Oncology across tumor types strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of oncology data (e.g., tumor types, treatment pathways, biomarkers and testing).
  • Deep experience in the U.S. pharmaceutical market and expertise across data domains and their application to key business issues.
  • Experience supporting product launches and portfolio strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the Data and AI strategy for the Global Oncology portfolio, informing go-to-market strategy, launch planning, and lifecycle optimization across priority assets.
  • Lead the application of Engagement.ai for Launch and Engagement.ai for Medical across our clinical state Oncology portfolio, delivering impactful insights that shape our go-to-market strategy and ensure launch readiness.
  • Lead the AI transformation of Oncology-focused GCSO teams through AI Next Frontier strategic initiatives and through driving AI adoption and its application to core business activities.
  • Generate and deliver actionable insights into patient journeys, treatment patterns, and physician behavior to guide brand and portfolio decisions.
  • Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, business-focused, decision-ready recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Drive data and AI innovation in areas including patient identification, patient and HCP segmentation, engagement optimization, and forecasting.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering strong technical excellence and business acumen.
  • Manage a portfolio of high-impact initiatives, prioritizing resources to maximize business value.
  • Build differentiated capabilities that create sustained competitive advantage in Oncology.
  • Integrate diverse datasets (real-world data, clinical, claims, digital) into unified analytical frameworks.
  • Navigate data, privacy, and governance considerations to enable responsible and scalable use of oncology data and AI.
