Senior Director, Global Cyber Defense
About The Position
The Senior Director, Global Cyber Defense leads DoorDash’s global Cyber Defense organization, including Incident Response, Detection Engineering, Threat Intelligence, Threat Hunting, and Insider Threat teams across DoorDash and its subsidiaries. Reporting directly to the Global Chief Security Officer, this role is responsible for protecting the organization by proactively identifying, investigating, and mitigating cybersecurity threats and incidents and by developing and implementing security strategies, policies, and procedures. The leader will align cyber defense with business objectives, lead incident response and cross-functional coordination, mature scalable engineering-first services and processes using AI technologies, and establish service-level agreements and operational resilience. The role also includes mentoring security engineers and managers and fostering continuous learning and collaboration.
Requirements
- 15+ years of cyber defense experience, including 10+ years in a cloud-native environment.
- 10+ years of people management experience within a security organization.
- Experience leading global incident response and security operations teams at technology companies.
- Deep technical security expertise in cyber defense functional areas.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong collaboration and partnership skills, including the ability to build relationships across IT, Legal, Compliance, Human Resources, and business units.
- Familiarity with cyber defense platforms such as SIEM and their implementation.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and diverse environment.
Responsibilities
- Align Cyber Defense strategy with DoorDash’s business objectives in partnership with the CSO and senior leaders.
- Lead investigation, countermeasures, and recovery for information security incidents, including cyber attacks, unauthorized access, and policy breaches.
- Coordinate with incident responders, internal cross-functional partners, and external law enforcement.
- Identify and investigate insider threats in partnership with Legal, Fraud, HR, and other stakeholders.
- Evaluate and implement threat detection technologies and techniques.
- Collect and analyze threat intelligence to identify, assess, and mitigate threats to DoorDash.
- Grow and mature an engineering-first Cyber Defense program with scalable services and processes, leveraging AI technologies.
- Define and deliver service-level agreements and improve operational resilience and excellence.
- Mentor and train security engineers and managers, fostering continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.
