About The Position

This Senior Director, External Innovation, Neuroscience serves as the subject matter expert for external innovation related activities in the Neuroscience development organization. Working closely with colleagues in the Business Development Team, the incumbent will be responsible for a therapeutic area specific search and evaluation role. This role is accountable for contributing to neuroscience business development strategy and execution from a Neuroscience development perspective. The role would leverage the candidate’s significant research or clinical development experience in neuroscience to lead in the identification and development of plans for an external asset that would be a strategic fit with the internal neuroscience franchise and priorities.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences required (PhD, PharmD or MD).
  • Deep research, translational experience, or clinical and development experience in neuroscience with advanced knowledge of drug development, competitive landscape, and health authority expectations.
  • Ideally 8+ years of relevant experience, including leadership in the design and execution of multiple research programs or clinical trials or the development of assets in the preclinical space
  • Demonstrated success in people leadership and/or matrix leadership roles.

Responsibilities

  • Owns and drives business development strategy across given asset indications, aligned to overall neuroscience strategy, working on Target Product Profile (TPP), and relevant disease area strategy with multiple cross functional colleagues.
  • May lead the DiligenceTeam(s) for given indication(s) depending on program structure
  • Provides clinical and disease area expertise to integrated disease area and portfolio and therapeutic level strategies
  • Represents Clinical Development as the authority for the indication/disease area, in external interactions and Business Development support.
  • Engages cross-functionally with internal leaders and partners with external investigators, key opinion leaders, and patient advocacy groups.
